Couple of suggestions if that's okay. Books I've read or listened to recently and enjoyed, and will read again

The Girl With All The Gifts by M R Carey
Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal by Jeanette Winterson

"None of us ever know all the possible courses our lives could have and maybe should have taken. It's probably just as well. Some secrets are meant to stay secrets forever. Just ask Pandora." This is the last couple of lines in The Husband's Secret.

This made me so sad. Would I have been better off not remembering what I have had to bear. The weight of the pain is crushing. The line is so thin between living and not.

Blind Descent: Surviving Alone and Blind on Mount Everest by Brian Dickinson

Former Navy rescue swimmer Brian Dickinson was roughly 1,000 feet from the summit of Mount Everest—also known as “the death zone”—when his Sherpa became ill and had to turn back, leaving Brian with a difficult decision: should he continue to push for the summit, or head back down the mountain? After carefully weighing the options, Brian decided to continue toward the summit—alone. Four hours later, Brian solo summited the highest peak in the world. But the celebration was short-lived. After taking a few pictures, Brian radioed his team to let them know he had summited safely, and got ready to begin his descent. Suddenly, his vision became blurry, his eyes started to burn, and within seconds, he was rendered almost completely blind. All alone at 29,035 feet, low on oxygen, and stricken with snow blindness, Brian was forced to inch his way back down the mountain relying only on his Navy survival training, his gut instinct, and his faith. In Blind Descent, Brian recounts—in fantastic detail—his extraordinary experience on Everest, demonstrating that no matter how dire our circumstances, there is no challenge too big for God.

I've been reading so much recently. I am enjoying a new author called Mary Campisi, she writes family saga type books. I found her through Kindle. Hubby has to go away for a week, business, and I plan some time to curl up and read. Depending on the time of day with either a coffee or glass of wine.

About the book club. I am no longer a moderator so cannot edit. If another Mod would take it on, it doesn't take a lot of time.

Of course that is if members want it to continue.

Hi @Kim500 *waves*
I just finished Dust and Shadow by Lyndsay Faye, am reading Daily Painting by Carol Marine, Cinema Lumiere by Hattie Holden Edmonds, The Book of Paul by Richard Long (this one may be too grim and vile though). Also have samples of Achieve Anything in Just one Year by Jason Harvey, and Getting Past Your Past by Francine Shapiro, PhD... Good reading to you! :)
