Bum Wiping & Wet One's Aka Moist Towelette's

I heard they are blocking up drains in part of London. The BBC website says

The trend for using wet wipes instead of regular toilet roll is making sewer blockages worse, says Thames Water. In some cases they lead to sewage backing up into people homes and gardens.

The wipes often combine with hardened food fat, causing "fatbergs"

The company says its workers are having to remove the wipes from sewers and take them to be buried at landfill sites.
It is urging people to use a new moistening foam that can be applied to regular toilet paper.

Fatbergs! Gross!

Oh this is the funniest thread.:roflmao: Alot of people are doing this. This is just too funny. Too bad they are clogging the lines with them. You would think they would just throw them away. This is the funniest thread. I needed a good laugh.

The person that converted me gave this example: If you worked in a store and were called to do a clean up and it was a pile of poo...would you use a dry cloth to wipe it up with or a wet cloth? Why? Exactly!

Some of the baby wipes have fragrances and other chemicals added that I'm allergic to. Take the wipes out of the package and run water over them. Placing your palms flat on each side squeeze out the excess water. Repeat. Removes most of the stuff manufacturers put in them.

I didn't realize this was such a controversial subject! I have a regular pack in both of my bathrooms, a travel pack in my purse and a regular pack at my ex's house. If I ever went anywhere else I'd probably have some stashed there too....lol.

Yeah I started using wet wipes in 2003 while in Iraq because in that kind of heat and not so frequent showers you need to stay as clean as possible. After I got back I didn't feel squared away unless I kept using them so it will be a lifelong habit now.:sneaky: <---This icon thing just made me bust out laughing and I don't know why.

I haven't read the whole thread - perhaps this is a good thing LOL

That said, I do have to wonder what exactly are in baby wipes - and presumably the 'wet wipes' that would be made of similar, if not the same, products/chemicals.

Why? Because one day, whilst using some on my little bilby's botsa, I realised that the wipes had removed some of the nail polish from my fingernails. Hmm....?!
