Child-like Positive Activities

It is very hard to feel like a child, as I feel I have always had an old soul. My children have helped me recapture some of that. It is hard to allow myself to enjoy, but one of the most childish things I did with them was a long time ago when they were little. It was raining out and I grabbed them and we went running in the rain and sliding down our slide. For a moment they got to see their mom laughing and doing something crazy. I hope they remember that with as much joy as I do.

Once when my eldest son was about 12 and we'd been grumpy with each other because of the heat, I angrily called him out back...he thought that he was in trouble...I ambushed him with the hose sprayer and we had a huge water fight! He is 30 and married now but still talks about it fondly.

Sweet pea and sun bird, my mom always wore socks like that. She once bought a series of holiday socks. She was a nurse who liked wearing her funky socks. Not sure there was a normal one in the bunch.

When she died last year, the ones that were not well worn, I gave out to some of her dearest friends to remember her by. I tried to balance them with their personalities. They were looking to have something to remember her by that wasn't a knick knack. Of course I washed them all. Still not sure if that was a gross thing on my part. At least it wasn't her underwear! :roflmao:

I like the silly socks too :)

I loved it when I used to care for children as a job and would play Barbies with the girls and help brush all the Barbie's hair and put different outfits on them, especially the wedding dresses.

And the girls I looked after would brush my hair and do all funny hairstyles and I had to keep it in until their Mum's arrived to show them. That could be a little embarrassing, but the girls loved it :)

I watched a friend's youngest 2 and we went out in the yard/driveway with chalk. Before long, they were "painting" my face and hair with the chalk. We even took pictures to prove it. I went home covering in sidewalk chalk from head to toe. It was pretty funny and the kids loved it. When their mom got home, she just shook her head.

I play hide and seek with the dog, too. When he isn't looking, I "disappear" and he goes searching. It is getting hard to find places where he won't look immediately. He is always so excited to see me and we have a good romp. We also play endless games of frisbee and snuggle. He reminds me to play when I am feeling cranky. That dog definitely knows how to make me laugh! I just can't resist that puppy, "play with me" look!
:):joyful:

Find a small stream and build a rock dam with pebbles, then jump in it!

I still do this.

Whoahhhh, What a joy to read this thread. :inlove:

I think I have done child like activities. I did this with a friend six years ago. She was telling me time is up, I have talked with her for one hour and I should be gone by now. I told her No, you didn't explain me something. I love to hear her thoughts and enjoy time with her. So this way it kept going back and forth. She even didn't know how we passed one another hour. We laughed after that, she told me it was really good session. I don't know she remembers or not this all at the moment. But it was pretty funny.
