Child Rescue Alert has been launched in the UK http://www.childrescuealert.org.uk/. Similar to Amber Alert in the US and Amber Alert Netherlands, it is the responsibility of CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre - Link Removed) - part of the National Crime Agency - and is run in conjunction with the charity, Missing People http://www.missingpeople.org.uk/
It is a system set up to alert the public as quickly as possible about child abduction or other high risk child disappearance. The public can register to receive an alert by text message should a child go missing in the local area. Alerts are only sent when there is sufficient information to give to the public. Every minute counts in these situations. 64% of children were recovered thanks to the Amber Alert systems in the US and the Netherlands.
CEOP "pursues those who sexually exploit and abuse children, prevents people becoming involved in child exploitation, protects children from becoming victims of child exploitation and sexual abuse, ..."
