"... The mutual ministry of the members of the body of Christ towards one another must be rooted solidly in truth and love. (re: Ephesians 4:15) -- Speaking the truth in love.
Many people read that verse and immediately interpret it as meaning that when they feel they need to confront somebody with something, they ought to do it, but just make sure they do it in love. This is where it is so important to understand, and apply, one of the most important principles about reading, interpreting, and applying God's word --- namely, that context is always critically important and virtually any statement taken out of context, the immediate context, the larger context of perhaps an entire book, and in fact, the still larger context of the word of God, can be made to say almost anything. (our pastor's emphasized test in caps following) YOU HATE IT when someone takes something you say OUT OF CONTEXT and uses it in a way you never intended to your detriment and frankly, I think GOD HATES IT TOO. I think God hates it when someone quotes "God is love" and uses it to override his concern for righteousness and holiness of character, and of law for that matter. It is also possible to go the other way around and quote, "God is a consuming fire," and make him out to be a god who is harsh and strict and watching for every little deviation from his will to take us to task even when we are trying to grow our desire to please him and walk in his ways. We need the FULL TRUTH about God as revealed in HIS Word."
