Because of the nature of my hypervigilance, the only way I am going to get better is by confronting the trauma in the situations they existed in.

In my case were talking about camps, and shelters.

Can you describe this a little bit more? I'm not sure I buy into the idea that it's necessary - but I also don't think I understand fully how this connects to the specific nature of your hypervigilance - or perhaps, why you need to approach your whole trauma in a location, as opposed to processing the bulk of the trauma, and then dealing with any leftover issues that might be specific to places.

?

In my trauma locations are part of it, I have a form of hypervigilance where 24/7 I have to be in my comfort zone situationally. I have opportunities to confront this location aspects for the purpose of learning the that the type of locations are safe for me. I the words of my trauma therapist "create new memories" that are good to overshadow the bad ones.

I think I understand what @recoveringfromptsd is talking about.

I haven't been where you have, @recoveringfromptsd, but I have a good imagination. And, as you know, I do work for a shelter. I am so very sorry you've had bad experiences there. That's why we have security and keep the sexes separate.

I've been doing accelerated resolution therapy with my trauma T. That's basically the goal, to replace bad memories with good ones we create. It involves eye movements and constant mental attention. It's really difficult, but I'm giving it my best shot. So far, I'm feeling worse, but giving it time.

I have 3 opportunities to address 3 different aspects, but have to wait until I am ready, already addressed the BDAY/XMAS one at XMAS

Not going to happen right away, and not going to happen until I am ready, and the right safeguards are in place. And I will have to have someone there to watch my interests. This will be highly structured.

@Gia1019 By the way, I finally gave in and had my PDOC prescribe prosazin for my waking nightmares so that stress could be eliminated, the urge to cut that I was dealing with from this therapy work, and the nightmares was driven partly because my adrenaline level was staying up all the time (this happened before I went to SP from flood of Flashbacks). It turns out the prosacin works by reducing the adrenaline hormone, which means it's helping not only with the nightmares that were contributing to my adrenaline level but the level during the day. So I am less stressed and more in control.
