Thank you Anthony, I was starting to get confused with all the ptsd variants and was wondering if it was a complexe ptsd as it has been triggered off 5 1/2 years ago.

DSM V is removing acute and chronic, leaving only the additional, being "delayed onset". Complex PTSD does not exist, isn't being picked up, hence why I changed the forum to complex trauma instead, which is real and present as the appropriate term to describe the type of trauma, thus the type of PTSD being dealt with.

To be official, they are actually classified as Bipolar I Disorder or Bipolar II Disorder. I believe the typical abbreviation is just Bipolar though.
not to be arguementive or anything but to be clear, I am Bipolar, it is properly stated as Bipolar Type I, or Type II, just sharing.

The DSM official diagnosis is, Bipolar I Disorder and Bipolar II Disorder, evidenced:

Bipolar I Disorder, actually doesn't exist as a diagnosis, instead it sub-categorizes into 6 types, each named officially in the above links, being the official online DSM IV-TR approved diagnostic reprints. The Bipolar I types are then officially classified as, Bipolar I Disorder, Single Manic Episode, etc etc etc.

What happens within clinical settings does not make something official... just look at the CPTSD debacle to see evidence with that.
