Its literally impossible to speculate on whether blocking him in your situation would or would not be a problem later.
So, my personal advice would be to not block. Don't help, don't block. He knows where you are at, yes? If he wants to come, he can come. Or not. His call.
Why? One, I think he will de-escalate faster. I suspect this guy likes the fight. No fight, no interest.
Two, you stand a 50-50 chance of it causing a problem. So just remain neutral until he forces the issue by showing up and saying 'I want full custody of my child'...which I'd be shocked if he did.
Since you are a US citizen - you should qualify for some amount of free legal aid (advice) in the US, which you could access over Skype or email.
