Depression slump

I am kind of down and in a slump. I find myself in a bent over position alot and just staring into space, eyes focused on nothing. Some things in life have contributed to this other than the lockdown. Failures that I have a track record on. Nightmares, poor diet because I am not interested in cooking at all.... I know I am depressed, but have no real solution.

I so relate to this. I am sorry you are struggling. I do this a lot, most often when I'm out in the car; I spend lots of time pulled off in parking lots just sitting and staring. Feels paralyzing.

Does anything help?

I don't have any advice, just want to let you know you are not alone in this!

Sorry you're experiencing this, @Changing4Best . I, too, can relate.

I know how overwhelming cooking can be when we are depressed, but I also know how big of an influence food was in overcoming my depression. Quite a rock-and-a-hard-place scenario.

Maybe one or two dishes that are simple and nutritious that you can make easily? Something that can be tossed in the oven with not much preparation?
Roast chicken? (sorry, I don't know if you're vegan/etc)
Roast vegetables?
Pre-mixed salad from the store?

What are the kind of foods you like to eat? :)

Something I do (I hate to cook and it's really bad when I'm depressed) is find a couple of meals I can make several servings of and put left-overs in the 'fridge or freezer. Three of those are vegetable soup (I just throw the ingredients in a slow cooker and let it do its thing), mac and cheese (also in the slow cooker), and roasted potatoes and asparagus.

I got some chicken salad from the deli, that is what I had for supper. I have protein shakes in the house for my slump days. I had one for breakfast today. A lot of the time I just don't feel like eating.

Protein shakes are awesome if you ask me.

Doesn't matter it's not cooking 'proper'.
It's eating proper :sneaky:

As in at all IS good self care.

And methinks some times, resting your eyes and your head is whats needed. Can't just be moving forward all of the time, need space for pause & catching a breath too.

I'm really sorry about what you are experiencing! Is it possible to take walks outside? It can help to refresh your mind and it helps physically too. What about listening to inspirational music? I know it's hard to do things. I am sorry you have it very hard! I wish you blessings.
