Does Lamictal Help Ptsd If You Are Not Bipolar?

@joeylittle: yes, I have several psychologists. The one see now suggested I get a psychiatrist again. I'm in a rural town so it means driving a good hour and a half to find one that really understands trauma.

Follow up: I started the Lamictal at 100 mg. No side effects noticed. Feel my ptsd and mdd symptoms, though still occur, are already less severe usually. I'm coming out of the spiral easier. At this point, I reallycommend others to try it--whether bipolar or not. I'll post again if anything changes.

I have PTSD and Major Depressive Disorder. Other things too--like Hypothyroidism. My worry is that...

I was misdiagnosed for half my life with depression, I know how frustrating it can be, however in September 2016 I was finally diagnosed with CPTSD and was put on lamictal and prazosin (for nightmares) It has helped my mood, not as much as I would like, but meds don't heal anything, they only help so much with symptoms. But to answer your question it is prescribed for CPTSD or PTSD as well. I would suggest DBT or EMDR therapy and learning mindfulness to help further with your struggles.
