News Donald Trump's Popularity To Date

And Trump just now tweeted that John Kasich was never asked to be VP. And that he just now arrived in Cleveland. Just now.

I call BS on Trump, because he was already in Cleveland and he already said he was considering vetting Kasich for VP...

@RussH - While I don't agree on everything, you make some valid points and it's great to have your perspective.
With all due respect I will take the word of Donald Trump's kids instead of an article by Vanity Fair.
I think it is fair to always take what the media says with a grain of salt. It's good to question the bias of Vanity Fair! Most reporters have a bias. The good ones are honest about it. Politicians family members are not unbaised sources for impartial information either.

This isn't a case of where I take the opinion of Vanity Fair over the claims of the kids. I referenced the article simply as a source for evidence about what the kids said about their own father. It is an undisputed agreed upon fact by all parties, even Trump's own children, that Trump was not the primary caregiver for his kids.

It is my opinion (a clearly disputed matter) that this fact from Trump's children lessens the credibility of the children about how good of a caregiver their father was to them. I agree that all info seems to suggest they have turned out to be mostly well adjusted kids (except that they don't seem to express alarm for the violence his father encourages.) But when it comes down to it, I don't take the input of the family members of *any* political figure to be unbiased. It's not a knock on the kids or Trump to state that kids might not be the most objective source of info about their own parents. I personally need more info that a candidate will run a country well other than what his children say, and I have yet to find it with Trump.
What gives you the idea that he wants to have sex with his daughter? I pay close attention to the news, and have never heard that. And yes, abused kids will say nice things about their abuser, but it is very clear when you listen to the adult Trump children, they have love and admiration for their father. There is no indication of abuse.
To be clear, I do not accuse of Trump of physical or sexual abuse. If I didn't explain that well, I'm sorry. I have no evidence of anything more than consistently inappropriate remarks. I do accuse him of being sexually inappropriate in his comments about his daughter, and he has been clear in saying he wanted to have sex with her, date her, ect. This is an undisputed fact. The video you posted shows it, and there are others. Trump repeated it when he was questioned about it in his 2015 interview with Barbara Walters. (I can't find a postable clip here but it can be found on google.) One of the many other instances where he talks about sex and his daughter:
As a woman, I would freak out if my father attempted to compliment me by taking about having sex with me or dating me if he wasn't my father. Dating your children is a crime. Suggesting a father would want to date a child is not actually a compliment and goes against social norms. I would find it very disturbing my own father said we had sex in common, and as the FIRST thing we have in common. That's not a compliment either, kinda freaks me out, and in all the videos with Ivanka, you can even see Ivanka cringe. It's not appropriate and it's really creepy. I don't want a president that intends a desire for prohibited incest to be a compliment.

Furthermore, Trump called dating his "Vietnam," and vaginas like "landmines" and "there's real danger there." He said this after he communicated his presidential aspirations years ago.

I don't want a president who thinks my private parts are landmines worthy to declare a comparison with a major war that killed so many people. Um, ew. That's not presidential and doesn't make me want him to be my leader.

Then there is the problem of what he actually said about actual POWs in Vietnam. Google John McCain and Trump... members of the same party no less. Supposedly the party he is uniting.
If you do not like Trump that is perfectly fine, but stick to the facts and not a lot of supposition.
I agree. I try to do this, and if I am ever making a factual claim without any basis in fact, please do call me out on it! Diverse opinions are very important to have. :)

Howard Stern is the ultimate shock jock that has quite a huge base of fans. You cannot seriously take him serious, as his intention is to shock people. I am not a fan of Howard Stern but clearly there have been so many celebraties that have been on the Howard Stern Radio program and now he owns his own tv channel which his fans have to pay to listen to him. I have seen so many go on his program to reach out to his fan base. Just my opinion not a fan of Trump at all.

Thank you, JMH, for having the wherewithal to post all this and provide the necessary documentation of the Donald's own words. I just couldn't manage it.

I am even more afraid of Trump because going on the Howard Stern show was a very shrewd decision on his part as Howard Sterns fan base is so huge and of course now I see the appeal of Trump in a way that I had not forseen, he is appealing to people who are fed up with politically correct. That is quite a large amount of disgruntled people more than I realize and it is pretty scary. Even the reverend Al Sharpton was on the Howard Stern show. Very scary.

If it's any consolation, the older white male demographic is shrinking. It's been shrinking for some years now, and I think it will continue. I don't think we have a significantly larger number of African American citizens lately, but we do have more Hispanic American citizens. All this helps the U.S. fulfill its dream of inclusion, liberty and justice for all.

@gizmo - I agree that Howard Stern interviews should never be a source for classy comments, and it makes the situation more concerning. Stern eggs people on to try to get them to make outlandish statements. It's his shtick. It can make for a very entertaining show.

And I do believe that's how Trump views women, especially because he said it there, a place where outlandish things are "safe" to say.

Howard Stern's radio show is a place for outrageous comments, but why go on and lie about one's views on dating, and lie by devaluing women and veterans? If Trump, the say-it-like-it-is-truth-speaker, wasn't sharing his honest opinions, then what the heck was he doing saying that stuff? It doesn't really make the situation any better.

If it was a one time event, I'd probably dismiss it.

But this is the guy who hired an attorney believes you can't rape your wife. (See first post in thread.) Trump is either really awful at picking employees or Trump agrees and doesn't understand basic social norms (and basic criminal law.) I'm not saying Trump has raped anyone (others have claimed that in various legal actions against him but it's yet to be 100% proven fact) but these are viewpoints and opinions that all put together are very alarming. Especially for someone who also wants to run the executive branch of government with the ability to sign things into law and wants to represent all of America.

Thank you. Trump is shrewd and knows exactly what he is doing and saying. Right now there is shit storm of males sick of politically correct and anything goes is fair game to them. I am afraid he is giving the disgruntled masses exactly what they want to hear and I would not be surprised at voter turnout with this bunch, probably I would hazard to guess that it will be quite a lot of people who have never voted I would hazard a guess.

He reminds me of the Caesers in Rome he appeals to the mob. I never quite made the connection to his widespread appeal before but after seeing him with Howard Stern. lights are going on inside of me.

@hodge - re: secret service investigation. After whipping everyone into a frenzy to scream "guilty" last night, I'm not surprised folks informally on the Trump team would now call for punishment for that "verdict." These people don't understand the power they wield and who they wield it over. Conventions are especially intense emotional environments. That's why Christie doing this stuff for Trump is so dangerous. Many people will not take the next step and call for Clinton's death. Too many will. Trump is not a leader who will "Make America Safe Again."
