News Donald Trump's Popularity To Date

@ Anarchy, eh nope a vote for Johnson would be splitting either ticket.
It appears Johnson is splitting the Clinton ticket more than the Trump ticket so far:
http://fivethirtyeight.com/features...on-taking-more-support-from-clinton-or-trump/

Gary Johnson is a way to stick it to the establishment without necessarily burning the whole damn thing down. Johnson and Weld have been effective governors without being establishment leaders. Johnson is very pro-marijuana and ending the war on drugs, unlike Trump or Clinton. I think Johnson goes a little farther on many issues than I would, but not no way that seems racist or hateful or makes fun of people or makes people feel shit scared. It's like the libertarian convention itself: they had a crazy moment of somebody trying to strip on stage to demonstrate the joy of freedom, which was admittedly a little much for a national convention, but nobody was calling for somebody else's execution, deliberately trying to disenfranchise and silence a substantial part of the party, or scaring most of the nation.

I'll take unexpected moments of public nudity over death and destruction any day.

I'm not yet sure if I will vote for Johnson myself, as I am still in the process trying to pick the best alternative to Trump. If I was somehow forced to pick between Trump and Johnson, I'd easily pick Johnson.
And another reason I don't like either candidate. Geeze, is it too much to ask that politics aside we have somebody not shady?
I have been reading about Linclon lately, who didn't win the popular vote and was only nominated by the brand new Republican Party on the 9th round of voting at the convention... Who was not well liked during his presidency and yet was such an effective leader and president.

I wish we had a Lincoln of our age to vote for, instead of so many to vote against. I don't think he would win the popular vote now either though. Humility and self depreciating humor like that of Lincoln's humor is quickly falling out of style in politics...
Geez I do not think that I will be voting for Trump after all. This is so sickening. Ted Crurz was right vote my conscience.
Vote your conscience is wise - for or against Trump. The media and the parties would say vote out of fear, vote out of disgust, vote because we tell you to vote for so and so. I like vote your conscience because it puts it back ok each person doing what they feel is best, with respect that another person may feel a different option by their own conscience.

I would also add to give it time - a lot is bound to come up and happen between now and November. Find your principles that don't change.

Also, I think everyone has to remember the president is one person. As much as I have wanted change in how things are, and to change who is leading, I keep being reminded lately that I can affect change just by trying to say hello and be kind to my neighbor. No matter how much of these leaders preach they "alone" can save us and make everything "great again" - it's kind of all bullshit on both sides.

I believe that the things that are good or great about America are that way because of "we the people," not so much because of our leaders.

WPA worked then, and is needed now.

During its eight-year existence, the WPA put some 8.5 million people to work (over 11 million were unemployed in 1934) at a cost to the federal government of approximately $11 billion. The agency’s construction projects produced more than 650,000 miles (1,046,000 km) of roads; 125,000 public buildings; 75,000 bridges; 8,000 parks; and 800 airports.

This is what I predicted for this next week with the Democratic convention:

All kinds of crazy sh*t is going to happen regarding Donald Trump as he does his best out stage the Democrats and to try to at least compete with them for the news cycle. Right or wrong, it's what he does.

The DNC chairwoman has promised to resign at the end of the convention (the the nomination can't happen with no chair) but what seems to be listed higher in the news and then even that major development today? Donald Trump "mostly" denouncing KKK member David Duke running for Senate. He wavered when asked if he would vote for a Democrat over David Duke… so ya know, implying that the KKK's former grand wizard and still leading white supremacist might be better than some democrats according to Trump.

Donald Trump is also in the news for thinking that the National Enquirer is an excellent news source that should have won the Pulitzer Prize. No joke.

Trump said this:
“All I did is point out the fact that on the cover of the National Enquirer, there’s a picture of him [Rafael Cruz] and crazy Lee Harvey Oswald having breakfast,” Trump said. “I had nothing to do with it. This was a magazine that frankly in many respects, should be very respected. They got O.J. They got Edwards. They got this. I mean, if that was the New York Times, they would have gotten Pulitzer prizes for their reporting.”

Wasserman-Shultz (hate she's also a Floridian) has been booted out of the convention and most likely the DNC cuz of her part in the leaked emails.

Oh Lord, JMH... be careful about the fact checking stuff... I think me and Bloom in Winter went about 10 rounds and those fact checking organizations are run by guess hew... media/news organizations. I didn't like hers and predictably she didn't like mine. I don't want to go through all that again if I can help it. Long time a go and far far away.

the problem with programs like that, is that they report only the immediate effects on their intended targets

not on their effects on the whole economy and over a longer time period

you do not get told about the plans for things which people would have actually spent their own money on, if it hadn't been taken from them to fund an FDR ego trip

If those roads, airports, bridges and parks had been urgently felt needs - then they would have found private investors cueing up to invest in them. If that were the case, then the government pushing those projects was at best un necessary, and at worst, due to the lower productivity of government compared to private projects - there were probably less of them achieved than might have been if FDR had sat on his hands.

however, if there were more urgently felt needs, those projects took away money and bid away resources (like steel, labour, concrete), so those more urgently felt needs went un addressed.

How to know what needs are more urgent and which less urgent?

Was FDR like a political version of santa clause, and knew what everyone's needs were - so that no one got the wrong present from him?

he had no way to know - he used force to the his and his cronies way
he confiscated Americans' gold so that they could not save their earnings - and he and the banksters were able to martial other people's resources to their personal whims

and then to have the insolence to have his court chroniclers record for posterity how wise and just his theft and bullying was.

The recession of 1921 was over in eleven months, which was a typical length for pre intervention recessions

FDR's interventions managed to prevent the mal investments from being liquidated for a decade and a half.

FDR also had his National Recovery Agency, within which white union bosses managed to exclude blacks... Ammong unemployed blacks it was ironically called the Negro Run Around.
