The premise of the article is how society looks down on a subset of uneducated poor whites (aka hillbillies, rednecks, while trash... all the various different names this subset of Americans are called) and there is no one voicing their concerns... until Trump. I know, I know this theory begi

I think that labeling this group of people is never addressed anywhere with an intelligent conversation on either side of the aisle. I think this is the appeal for Trump by these labeled groups of people.

There is no protest or rebellion nor any group which supports their right not to be so labeled in my opinion. Is this not politcally incorrect in a form?

We as Americans are being labeled by groups and this group of people is so highly misrepresented in my opinion.

There is no voice supporting them until Trump I believe.

I wish our country was not so divided according to politically correct groups.

And I also believe that their is so much tension and anger and rage coming out and that the media focuses on the negatives too much.

We do have free speech but this group of people has not had much of a voice for so many years in my opinion.

The conflict about immigration pro and against, is getting a voice but not these people because in my opinion they do not protest up until now.

Just my thoughts and opinions. The article that @Justmehere put up is a voice, and it is refreshing to think about.

We want to include immigrants but ignore and ridicule this group of underrepresented people on both sides of the aisle in my opinion.

@Justmehere the first linc does not exist, I tried clicking on it twice and got the same response. I know he has insulted everyone. This is one of the many reasons I do not support him.

Yesterday at one of his rallies, it was announced that Trump raised five point six million dollars and sent the money to vets. He did not keep a penny to himself. I wish i could remember where the rally was held and could reference this event. I am sorry about this.

Yes, that is related to the debate he skipped because he didn't like moderator Megan Kelly, so he held a fundraiser for vets while not going to the debate that everyone else went to.

He had long declared he raised 6 million for vets. There has been an outcry for 5 months that little to no money has actually gone to the vets. Perhaps he has finally corrected this? The military, which historically votes republican by a wide margin, and the libertarians are now hawk-ish, so this is especially telling. They don't want Trump to be their commander in chief.

One of the few good things about the GOP nominating Trump... many republicans are beginning to realize they are really screwing up in how they talk to and treat others that they disagree with.

I've actually had a sense from the beginning that despite his-say-it-like-it-is reputation, he has been holding back quite a bit.

I feel like it's kind of spooky that he came to Colorado to say that, the home of the #voteyourconscience movement against him. He's losing in the polls here and pulled out of or declined almost all previous events in Colorado until after the Colorado delegate uprising at the RNC. Suddenly he has lots of plans to be in Colorado now. Clinton is soundly polling 10-16 points above in Colorado, and has pulled out her advertising because she isn't concerned Trump will win Colorado. Trump has no advertising, no ground game, no campaign staff, nothing in Colorado. The libertarians have a stronger movement here than Trump. But Trump came to Colorado right after the conventions, his first stop, to say he's taking the gloves off?

I personally don't feel that Trump's popularity rising is a phenomen at all, nor do I think it's crazy or that American's have lost their minds.

I came into research with a keen dislike of Trump and now im more on the fense then anything.

I think Americans want a change, in every way. Our country is in a very sad state if you ask me and I think most see that and want a change, a big change and the question is, whom will better change it in the best ways?

I agree that most Americans are not crazy or haven't lost their minds. Some people make that claim and I think it dismisses what is really happening.

I do believe there is a very new pattern happening for the US, especially with Trump. He has defied all old school predictions of how someone can get nominated by the Republican party for president. Just 2-3 years ago, talking about blood coming out of a female presidential debate moderators "wherever" would have DESTROYED a campaign instantly.

Candidates running on a position that they will change things isn't new though. I have studied a lot of history and politics and I haven't come across a single candidate who had ever ran with the message, "Vote for me because I'm going to keep things exactly how how they are now."

Promising change is what politicians do because it gets them votes, it's what people usually want. They just disagree on what should change.

That being said, the favorably ratings of current leaders are the lowest in the history of tracking favorability ratings. There is a much more wide spread cry from every day citizens for "revolution" - extreme levels of change - than in the past 20 years.

The US has already been through one civil war and many other tumultuous times where people were willing to die for change, but even then, this time period that we are in seems different.

It's not just the US either. Trump-like leaders and other statists are rising up in power in other nations as well.

Many people say our country is in bad shape. I agree. We are not that far from the dollar collapsing and things getting much worse.

At the same time, it's not just the US. It's the whole world. Comparatively, America isn't that bad off. Things do need to get better, so many things, but there are some things the US is actually doing ok.

I think America has forgotten that we don't need a king-like leader to fix our problems.
