Shows real character, eh?
I think it shows why we can't afford to let the two major parties run the country. Because it gets to be all about winning. We could just as well turn things over to the New England Patriots and the Dallas Cowboys.

My T went WAY out of his way today to state that he was concerned that "women everywhere" were going to think that that was an example of how men talk in locker rooms. He said he used to be an athlete and spend time in locker rooms several days a week until he was in his mid 30's and NEVER heard a conversation remotely resembling the Trump/Bush conversation. He actually went on a bit of a rant. (I assured him that I believed him and was glad to hear it, since a fair number of my favorite people are male. LOL)

I'm so glad your therapist is so thoughtful and concerned, Scout. My T goes on a bit of rant, too. But then she's inundated with PTSD clients who are triggered by Trump, as is she, and she says the longer this goes on, the worse we are all doing. God have mercy.

I think most men do not talk about women this way to each other. My husband has no friends who talk like this. There are undoubtedly some Neanderthals left among us, though.

Something is happening at the RNC. Here'a media verification: Link Removed
It appears the RNC is stopping production on Trump materials and has pulled Trump's name off phone banks.

No info on if this is temporary, or finally a choice to back away from Trump. This would be the first step for the RNC to pull funding from Trump. They will pull funding from Trump long before they take him off the ticket.

I am taking extra time to notice the decent and good men that I know, who are furious about what Trump has said and done.

I'm also kind of curious what Ted Cruz is thinking right about now. What's he gonna do? Pull his already delayed endorsement of Trump?

What a mess!

First Skittles, now Tic Tac has a PR nightmare on their hands, since they are now famous for being the candy Trump eats prior to sexual assault. How many other candy companies will be dragged into the fray? ;)

Giuliani and others are beginning to now say men talk like Trump. It's normal. WHAT?! I haven't really been very angry during the election yet, despite my concerns. But I'm angry about that nonsense. It's an insult to men everywhere.

Apparently insulting all women, minoirties, disabled, immigrants, muslims wasn't enough? Now they have to insult all men too?!

This is why we can't chase strongmen to save us...

I aomeonwhat agree with the assessment by Mel Robbins. What many are going to see as a negative about Trump, so many others are going to see as a reason to dig in and keep supporting him.

"Trump's brand is asshole. His speech is hate. His promise is ignorance. I don't dig it. And you probably don't dig it either. But .... he isn't playing to you or me. He's playing to the people who have been digging it."

I have spoken face to face with many Trump supporters who say, point blank, "Trump is a a**hole/jerk/bully... and that's why I'm voting for him." They often go on to explain that Trump is a way to finally get back at the system that failed and betrayed him.

I think it's a smaller percentage than Mel Robbin claims, but it is a sizeable percent of people. I also think it may begin to matter more and more. Gosh, I hope it does.

I'm gonna say a really strange thing, and say that I think this is actually a good thing that people are using this as the defense.

Why?

For one, it's true. Trump is not at all the only man who talks that way about women. There is a whole culture of 'locker room talk' (not really anything to do with locker rooms per se) that supports objectifying and degrading women by referring to them as conquests, targets, trophies.

It's really wrong, but it's one of the big underlying issues that continues to support rape culture in this country. So, I think bringing it out into the light of day is ultimately going to help undermine one of the more 'hidden' aspects of misogyny. Rudy Giuliani wants to say that it's normal for men to talk like that? Fine. Let others agree with him, and let others disagree with him. I personally disagree. The more this kind of thinking shakes itself out of the back corners and into the daylight, the less acceptable it will become. Men who are in these conversations who don't agree might feel more emboldened to speak up. And women who are subject to this kind of actioning might feel more emboldened to say 'stop'.

Nothing ever got better by remaining hidden. - though, the uncovering is almost always incredibly ugly.

That's an excellent and well thought out point!

I had been happy Trump's true character is now really clear, but appalled people defended it - but you are exactly right. It's good this kind of defense and behavior is coming to light so we can deal with it as a society.

ugh. If I run into one more person who says "grab their p***y" is Trump simply trying to be macho....

Like no. People trying to be macho can say stupid stuff. Absolutely. What Trump did was boastfully confess to a crime. That's not only not macho, that was predatory.

I'm glad the conversation is being had though - that way people can say um yeah, no. That's not only not macho, it's not Trump just trying to be macho. He's a predator.

One person told me that the whole matter is being overblown, and he talks just like Trump with his friends who are fellow veterans when they joke around. I responded by saying, um you all gleefully confess to sexual assault on women with each other as a joke? Then you might want to contact a criminal defense attorney and get into therapy in a hurry...

He then got my point. he went back to his stance that Trump is terrible and our society is falling apart stance. Sigh. Maybe it's just now finally going too far and it will start falling back together.

There is some serious problems in the GOP happening. it is said by many in the party that Rience almost resigned on Monday. He didn't because the debate went good enough. Alt right is actively telling the GOP national and local offices to support Trump or they will destroy all chances for any republicans on the down ticket.

If Trump loses, it is believed he is likely to launch a TV network and continue his harassment of the American public and worse.
