That blog post rocks!

But, I must admit.....IT'S ALL MY FAULT! I have so many links to porn in my trauma diary that Google found me out.... Sigh.

(For anyone who simply cannot tell, that line was all in jest, there are no porn links in my diary...Sorry, Ed! hahaha)

There are pro's and con's to all of this. The pro for the forum was that Adsense was quick, easy and near instant. The con is that Google serve a lot of crap ads and they're renown for doing exactly this to advertisers of their ads, being to cancel them out of the blue for any reason they deem fit, whether in their policy or not.

The idea was always to move to a private platform... and this has just forced me to do just that, where the ads are controlled further. I'm just not sure how exactly I'm going to do it, just yet. I'm looking into BuySellAds, which is one of my top choices, but I'm also considering a private platform where advertising is sold directly through the forum, and with a media release it would get it kicked off. There is a full scale ad platform for this software...

Me thinks I'll go change my home page.

You really should inform them that you are removing your support from them because of their discrimination against those with PTSD. Sometimes they won't care. But then again, sometimes they do. And of course they can't react to something that they don't know about.

Their exact words were: "Google does not allow the monetization of content that may be sensitive, tragic, or hurtful. While we believe strongly in the freedom of expression and offer broad access to content across the Web without censoring search results, we reserve the right to exercise discretion when reviewing sites and determining whether or not we are able to provide a positive user experience delivering contextually targeted ads to a site with this type of content."

Again, there is nothing in their content guidelines about showing their ads upon a site with sensitive, tragic or hurtful personal details. Google have completely lost the plot on this one IMO. Firstly, they made-up a reason which isn't contained in their programme guidelines, second, they seem to completely ignore the fact that these things that happen in life is just that, living life. Obviously they don't experience these things in their Google bubble of security. Maybe if they did, they may have a different view.

It was just getting to the point where key advertisers in this exact industry, their ads were beginning to show on this website as they had discovered it available for advertising. Whether Google like it or not, an entire industry surrounding trauma exists that must make money to keep providing support to those affected. What next Google? You petition that we stop funding charities who help victims of crime because the crimes are sensitive, tragic and hurtful?

If you want to make an impact with that last sentence, then share the shit out of this thread, OR, the blog post I linked above... spreading the issue of what Google is doing to those with trauma. According to Google the entire trauma support industry should collapse and not make money to continue helping those with trauma. That seems to be the gist of what I'm getting from them based on a completely unique reason they've provided outside their own policy scope.

f*ck bags is all I can say about them.

I wonder what it would look like if veteran, sexual abuse, or child abuse organizations put out a press release relating to this...

GOOGLE: SENSITIVITY AN ISSUE FOR ADS, REVENUE DENIED TO SELF-HELP FORUM FOR PTSD
Who's Insensitive When It Comes to Survivors Sharing Their Experience?

I already have the lead paragraph starting up through my head.

Edit: God, the possibilities just keep flowing.
