Sorry for so many posts lately, I just really don't have a lot of outside support.

So today my therapist brought up that she thinks I might would benefit from trauma-focused CBT. Due to several reasons we have stopped EMDR for right now- but the main reason is that I am not comfortable with feeling my emotions and tend to shut down. She herself isn't trained in TF-CBT but said she knows several therapist who are and that she wants to get trained. We kind of dropped it at that. I don't want to change therapist and it would take forever to gain trust, so I am hoping she is thinking more along the lines of her learning and then we do it together.

Anyways- can someone explain exactly how TF-CBT works and what it "looks" like? Have you had good or bad experiences with it?

Personally, I like hearing from you and wonder what's going on when you don't post, so I don't think you need to apologize. (Just sayin')

My T has never labeled what he's doing. Near as I can tell, he uses a lot of aspects of this. Most of the time, we deal with how life is going NOW, what's working, what's not, how to make what's not work better, etc. One of his lines that's annoying, funny, and true, is "You might want to find a better way to think about that." He never tells me that how I'm thinking about something is WRONG, just that some problems can be improved if I find different, and better, ways to think about them.

Your T has always sounded pretty good. I'll bet you get a lot out of this and that it will be pretty helpful. (Glad to hear today's session went ok!)
