Sufferer Experiencing Dissociative Behaviors Related To Ptsd, Also Have Mdd & Gad (so Many Letters!)

Hey everyone, I'm new to working with an online support group/system and I'm excited to have this opportunity to share my experiences with others and hear how others are navigating a post-trauma brain.

I was diagnosed many moons ago with depression and anxiety, but in the last couple of years it's really hit me just how much a major trauma from my past has had an affect on my personal relationships.

I first noticed I was dissociating during arguments, which I chalked up to a symptom of stress and ignored. Now I can't even concentrate on a regular conversation if the person starts talking for an extended time.

It even happens when I'm talking - if I talk for too long I forget what I'm saying as I'm saying it and I panic. Movies, TV, same thing - the only thing I seem to hold onto is writing and reading.

This has allowed me to have an incredibly fulfilling career as a crisis hotline counselor, because I'm able to have some really deep, amazing conversations with people... and it's probably because I'm on the phone, taking notes in front of me so I don't lose track!

Sorry guys, I'm a (sometimes) writer please excuse the length, but if you're still with me I'm glad to be here and I'm here to really work and get some advice on how to move forward, and I'm looking forward to helping others experiencing this too. Thanks for having me!
