News FDA nixes MDMA for PTSD -article

Psilocybin has more potential IMO than MDMA. MDMA has a long laundry list of adverse effects and some of them can be permanent as it's a stimulant and an amphetamine. I've long been a vocal opponent of these drugs even MDMA which can cause dental damage due to bruxism, dermatillonania, exacerbation of OCD (which worsens PTSD in those with both disorders), suicidal ideation, paranoia, agitation, heart rate and blood pressure increases etc.

I think it's good that they're demanding more evidence for long-term sustainability because we released some of these drugs to the public once already and they did massive damage (Ritalin, etc - there is some benefit but there's also a lot of harm, permanent side effects.) Psilocybin is far safer and more effective, and the effects are long-lasting because they promote neurogenesis which MDMA does not.

So I don't take this as a big of a loss as everyone else. Yes there is clear evidence that entheogenic drugs have positive benefits. Not disputing that, it's all the other peripheral stuff that worries me. Good news? We actually have one of those on the market! It's called Auvelity and it's far safer. I will be pissed if they nix psilocybin though.

Oh crap, I just posted this too.

Here's another article that also lays out all the problems with the study.
Same here

I hope psilocybin can weather the storm but it is also plagued with similar issues as
the guy running the show isn't a scientist but an old hippie.
I know of a licensed psychotherapist who quit doing therapy because leading group mushroom and DMT trips (she calls them workshops or classes) for rich people (mostly housewife influencers) was much more lucrative. She calls the sessions things like “Expand”, “Aliveness”, and teaches on “How Sex Can Save the World.” She considers herself a survivor of csa and trauma-informed.

I found this podcast which goes on a deep dive of the problems with using psilocybin to treat trauma. It’s called “Power Trip” put out by New York Magazine. This is the first episode.

This episode on the podcast interviews some of the participants in the MAPS MDMA trial and gives some insight as to why the study may have been rejected. It was recorded in 2022.

The hippie researcher is a man named Rick Doblin. He has a merry prankster vibe to him and seems to think MDMA is a kind of messiah-drug for humanity. Sounds like one critical issue, according to the podcast, was sample size. But also, even when participants had terrible experiences (according to them) they were written up as success stories and did not have access to their own data.
