funny enough solara, the blocked gland came to mind when I read earlier. I had that myself and worried myself sick, a few years ago. I went to doctor, but it went down a few weeks later without any medical intervention. Hopefully that's what it is.

OMG @rightkindofme

Sex is only for the man!?! I guess maybe it was the OB part that drew her to the field?

I guess it was the OB part?

I didn't tell her that more than half the sex I was having was with women... so the opinions of men were entirely irrelevant. She was Indian and did not seem open to such a comment. :)

I went and found a dyke. Turns out my birth control was the problem. The extra progesterone thinned out the tissues in my vaginal eco-system enough that any friction was brutally painful because I tore. Awesome!

Bodies are so annoying. :(

I too have had blocked glands - scary as f*ck.

Agreed with everyone on how great planned parenthood is. And if you can't make it work insurance-wise, is there a way to find out who the docs are? They are often also in private practice.

It can be tough info to get, if you are in a pro-life area. But could be a way to find someone awesome.

I really feel for you. Big hugs.

Omg me too. Not with the pain, but other things I've noticed. They're probably nothing but even just thinking about going to the Dr. for an exam makes me sweat bullets and cling to my chair. Really scary to me too. I've heard many Gyno's are trained to deal with abuse victims and you can look them up on the internet. I really hope they accept your insurance and that you find the right one!
I'm on the same journey...

I am going to ask for every available test so that I can put my fears to rest! This stuff is SO confusing b/c once you start to do research you just end up scaring the crap out of yourself since so many disorders are similar and have similar appearances and such.

My GP told me about something about some results once then said (since she knows me), "Probably don't google search it". So I didn't for about ten minutes.

It's most likely not serious but you'll feel better for getting the info. When I realized I needed my IUD out NOW, I could only get in with a nurse practitioner and she was awesome....had tips I hadn't heard from GPs or Ob/gyn in my two years running back and forth. But I do like my regular ob/gyn because she knows my history (and that stuff about giving me the info and choices).

Hi Solara, I'm sorry that you're in pain and feeling really down. I think things will work out when you see the doctor. It is not your fault that things have happened to you, you are not the one to blame but those assholes to blame who ruined your childhood. Please try taking some deep breaths and try diverting your mind. My best wishes are with you :hug:s.

I feel that it could be related to PMS maybe? But you'll find out the real answer soon. Meanwhile try being gentle to yourself and please don't blame yourself. :hug:s

No, Its not related to PMS, well not the actual physical pain, but maybe my emotions are heightened because of where I am in my cycle (but they actually shouldn't be right now....)

I have been doing warm compresses which ease the pain. I think I've identified the duct that has an issue, and I've read other stories online about how someone else had a problem with this same gland and it manifested in the same way that mine has. (Multiple symptoms for the same cause, as at one point I thought there were different things going on.) Ya, that 5 hour flight yesterday was sooo comfortable....*rolls eyes*

If she doesn't help me on Monday, I will ask for a referral to a urologist. I'm hoping it will go away on its own because I don't want to have to go through surgery! Ouch.

You guys have been awesome. Thanks again.

I didn't read all the replies, but I can relate to your post. I have a female gyn and that is what works for me. She was not condescending nor did she make me uncomfortable. I did mention on the form that I had been raped and that I also had been the victim of childhood sexual abuse. She was very understanding and kind. I hope this can help you somehow. My thoughts and prayers are with you! HUGS.

Hey solara, can this be urinary infection? Just a thought that came in my mind because it can be very painful. Do you have burning sensation when you urinate? Sorry, didn't mean to scare you but it can be a possibility.

No, its not a urinary infection. I've had those before and ya, they BURN! This is pain in the skin tissue itself. I really think it is a clogged gland, unfortunately. I'm going to go with that for now as the heat seems to help it (like heat has helped in the past with other clogged glands). I'll know on Monday hopefully what it is, and if not, I'll at least get a referral. I mean the pain is ok when I am lying down. Walking hurts and sitting hurts, too. I got some numbing cream (for better or worse) and it helps, too. It says it can be used in sensitive areas, and I read online that some women use the stuff when sex is painful, so at least its giving me relief now. I'll try to take a salt bath.
