Got Out of My Comfort Zone

Morgan,

Great job at going again....

I hope though that this statement was only a joke....I got a lot of phone numbers from the ladies of the group so now I have some resources if I feel like getting drunk. Keep fighting the urge, remember that you are worth more than a bottle, and you deserve to be healthy....

I will keep fighting Wendy. You can be sure of that. I just meant that I don't have to fight it all alone any more, there is help available if I need it.

Ok thanks Morgan for the clarification on that..... I too hope that you keep fighting. I know how hard the urge is, but you are worth fighting for, and you are worth fighting the urge.....

Do people that go to AA meetings also have people there with NA...is it one group or a group run together with the same philosophy.

If people here have tried this....was your anonimity kept clear and what happened if you saw someone you knewÉ

I've seen area where they combined the two and it was very private. Not even employees were alowed, only members. There are also groups with dual diagnosis with combined mental health and addiction challenges.

Well I not sure how hospitals work.

I was referring to community programs and private support groups. It may be challenging to find as they are private. Generally they are not listed in the phone book or anything.

You may find out about them from a police station, or a suicide prevention call, or getting to know about community drug intervention programs. Here they are not mainstream but they do exist.

They have lists available and the phone number is in the phone book where you can call and find out where a local meeting is and get the list at the meeting. people tend to be very helpful in that regard. I've been going by word of mouth from people at the meetings.

People are very helpful. Morning Morgan! I have noted that AA and NA programs are easier to find than dual diagnosis programs. Dual diagnosis programs address mental health and daily life struggles on an uniquely individual basis, as the story is much more complex than addiction on it own grounds. Have you found these programs in the phone book?:hello: I recall that there is a state portion I think it was a branch of the employment offices that have connections. There are a limited number of club houses where communities with severe mental health challenges gather and support each other. Employee's (like me) will run groups for how to get community services, liesure pursuilts, back to work experience and training, trips....blah blah. But employees do not control or run the club houses themselves. They get money from the state to be run but the members are in charge of what they want and what they do. It is recovery from mental health challenges program. Addiction is a common theme among a number of the membership. Dual diagnosis programs exist to address these more complex challenges. Where members meet and what goes on is very private. They do not even meet at the club houses. Maybe you know more Morgan? The phone book is a great place to start the exploration journey. I bet that people who have the information would be happy to share where and how to get additional information.:Hug_emoticon:

Oh yeah I get it now. I wasn't arguing or anything. I just thought you meant 12 step groups. I am in a dual diagnosis group right now through the VA. I don't about any outside of the VA. This is my first time hearing about them.

Morgan,

I am so sorry if it seems I was argueing! I'm not it has been a few years back that I was connected to all that jazz. And I am trying to remember the details. Dumb memory. I was connected through work for several weeks. The coolest part was a Meth Summit Convention where the community came together and brought specialist, users, program developers, polices, victims, everyone together to talk and hear each other. I was only at the club 7 or 8 weeks and the way I was connected was by word of mouth. I love the club house concept. People were empowered and in charge of their own progress not unlike this forum.

Morgan I truely did not mean to offend you in anyway. Just want to know what you know. More Please:smile:
