Has Anyone Here Tried Starting Some Kind Of Online Business?

Has anyone here tried starting some kind of online business? I am not looking for advice as to what kind of business to start, but am just wondering if some have taken this path due to PTSD?

I know I write quite well when I try, and I know I am good on the phone for short periods of time, and when I want to, I can get myself orgaznized (though it's very hard to keep organized). The thought of going back to what I have done for the past 15 years - casual to fine dining server - is just too much to deal with. I don't think I can do it and maintain at this point.

So.....I thought I might start up something online, as it doesn't seem I have much to lose at this point.....Anyone else reach a similar conclusion? Squireparty

It would be great to see some options that include real work from home companies on here- rather than just marketers that want you to buy a product.

I feel that working online from home would be the best option for me if and when I am ever able to earn income again.

However, every time I see a lead on this, the site turns out to be a bogus one that requires spending money or is just some marketer trying to direct traffic to his/her website.

Well I have no link or website but some good news. My good news (!!!! I'm really excited sometimes about it for brief periods of time!!!!) is that I am going back to school at a community college for three semesters to get a certificate in web design and development. What I do with it remains to be seen but I hope to somehow use these skills to be self employed.....working for other people and PTSD don't mesh well for me, and even before all this happened, I never really felt like I fit in any where I worked any way. It will be interesting to see what if anything I do with these new skills.....

That is wonderful!

I will say that working for myself has been the best thing I ever did. I have removed about 85% of my stressors from my work environment through careful planning.

There are diadvantages. I am incapable and disorgorganised sometimes and there isn't someone to pick up the pieces and certain possible consequences for my lack of organisation are serious. Having to keep records and all that comes with having a business is beyond me a lot of the time and I muddle through.

However, all in all, I earn a salary and I feel fairly useful in a linited way when I am not beating myself up for the shortfalls. It is far better than any other option I can think of so I am very grateful and grateful I am able to do what I do.

With web design you can also work with a salesperson. They do the initital face to face consultation and client management and you work behind the scenes to develop the goods. I hope it works out and should at least be stimulating.

I've got a few small but steady online job-like things I do, none of which required any upfront costs. Those pre-packaged 'business in a box' offers are junk, be very cautious of anything that wants you to pay them to make money.

Look at your skills, talents and knowledge, that's where you'll find your ideal online job. I've been hearing more and more about online tutoring, like for school kids. Personally I'm running some online shops and writing. It's great, I can work any time of day and none it requires getting out of my pajamas.

@circe47 If you live in the USA and are interested in some names of legitimate companies that hire Work at Home employees you can feel free to private message me. I've been working part-time, from home for a large, well-known company for a little over two years. During my time with this company I've met many other employees who have had work-at-home experience with other companies so I might be able to give you some leads on legitimate opportunities.
