Hello, I am new here so thought I'd introduce myself. I'm 27yrs old and diagnosed with PTSD, anxiety and depression. I also have a joint condition called Hypermobility Syndrome (which is unrelated). I grew up in a violent home and thankfully I have got my abusers out of my life. I also had to cut ties with some other family members who are toxic in others ways and were trying to bring me down mentally. I was homeless as a young adult and experienced some traumatic, strange, interesting and hilarious things (some good and some bad). I don't have children yet, just me and my partner and my pets. I work part time but hate my job lol! I would like to meet others on here who have PTSD as I am very distrustful in real life, I feel safer in a forum.

Hello and welcome. I also feel safer with text, for a number of reasons.

Glad you're able to laugh about some of the things that have happened, I think laughing can shrink problems down to a more manageable size.

Yes definitely BlueOrange, I think when you're in that type of situation you do also experience good times and I think it's also good to hold onto those memories. I do have a habit of using humour to mask my pain

There's some writing coming out recently on the topic of post-traumatic growth that might enjoy. I think we agree that building up the positive is at least as important as dealing with the negative.

Welcome to the Forum! It seems as though you have made it through many many difficult times, yet still managed it. You are definitely a survivor, a courageous spirit. Good for you for moving away from those who are toxic in your life!

You will find great fellow supporters here. As with anything in life, some advice may work while some advice may not quite fit your situation. All in all, though, this is an understanding group who knows what it is like to live and survive in a world that often doesn't understand PTSD. Again, welcome to the forum! Warmest, Rising Sun.
