New Here
Hello, everyone. I am new to the site. I am an Iraq and Afghanistan veteran. I have dealt with PTSD a lot over the years and have caused a great deal of damage and pain in my life. I had a huge catharsis two weeks ago after a really horrible night that resulted in my wife leaving.

I came across this forum and thought it would be a good place for me to continue to work towards being a better man than I have been over the past years. I also recently started a blog called the Warriors' Burden in hopes that sharing some of my life experiences can help others like me.

Gidday mate, I hope we can help. Welcome to our huge dysfunctional family.

You will get a whole heap of different points of view which is the best thing as we have veterans on the forum from conflicts going back as far as Vietnam so there is ample experience.

I found this forum in 2009 and had been single after my wife left me in 2007. Some people on here helped me to get a handle on myself and I found a lovely woman who took me for me.

The first step is like you said, you have to fix yourself, you are no good to anyone if you have no control. Make sure you continually go to therapy until they can help no more and if you are still not happy, go to someone else.

Good luck buddy.

Welcome home Warbreed and to the forum.

I have dealt with PTSD a lot over the years and have caused a great deal of damage and pain in my life.

Haven't we all, you're not alone by a long shot. The next question is what are you doing too deal with it TODAY?

A good place to start is to begin reading the posts and viewing some of the videos. The family always takes the second salvo usually right after we get hit full bore by the "beast". I don't know if you have been to the VA and have sought help but if you haven't I'd be on the horn ASAP. Lots of stuff available to help living with the beast but they are not going to come to you. Check it out!

Thanks, all.

Ba, I have been doing a lot of reading. I was in therapy with the VA before I departed the United States again. I am headed back to the States soon, though, and intend to reconvene.
