Supporter Hello. New To The Forums....

Hello, I am SquirrelGirl and I am married to a former sailor who has PTSD.

I live in a small town where help is not available. The nearest VA center is over 2 hours away.

We do not have any kids, although we have been married almost 12 years. As my husband used to say "The wife was there before there was a seabag."

I have done a lot of research on PTSD, but I am having a hard time lately. My husband is starting to bring me into a depression and I need help myself. If I am "broken" I can't be there to help him.

Some days, I feel so alone. None of our friends or even family understand what is going on in my hubby's life.

I admit I am looking for support as well as possibly help others as I travel on this journey in life.

Welcome to the Forum! I'm new myself. I can understand there are not many resources out there for PTSd treatment. I had to travel outside my state to find an inpatient program. I went to one in D.C. which was totally amazing helped me so much! It's really hard to find support groups. I know where I live they have DBT support groups for PTSD. I'm glad that you reached out somewhere for support. I hope your husband can find support as well.

Hi and welcome to the forum. If you go to the supporters section you will meet alot of great people who deal with the things you deal with.Can you go into therapy for yourself? I think it would help you out so much. I hear you when you say you are broken. It is nice to meet you.

It's hard to be strong for both of you, it's exausting too. Under the circumstances you have every right to feel the way you do. I hope you find some releif, help and support from the forums.
