Ok I did work for a short month and qualify for unemployment. Now since I have been submitting my job search for unemployment. One of them called me yesterday to set up an interview. This is for one of those food Burrito place. LOL Just being a food kitchen helper, however I am so scared calling back. I guess my fear is because I fear how the interviewer will judge me since I am overweight. So panic attacks are trying to set in. As I sit here comtemplating yes or no. He will only hold interview today and tomorrow and I'm just scared. I may not call back and just let it pass. UGH! I hate this I'm always putting blocks on my life due to not feeling worthy and smart. Well see what happens if I do or not. I still have time.

No - you're applying at a food place.

With weight people commonly associate with 'eats a lot' (regardless with how true, or completely false it is, with eating disorders & starvation not really choosing at which weight you actually are, not even starting on all the fun stuff metabolic and other disorders are) - so it's also a pretty good opening, talk about how awesome relationship you have with food, how enthusiastic you are about it, and about their sortiment in particular! :D, and how satisfied you've been with their service (even if you've never set foot there before... lot can be found online) - things like that.

Turn the thing you fear comments on into something that's strengths. Your fear? Your shield.

If YOU are talking about it, they're not likely to have the time - and if you start and they don't want to hear it, they stop talking it after.

I have a great fear of everything connected to getting a work, I am unemployed as well.
I know how you feel, you are not alone.
The fact if that person is going to judge you or not doesn't have to do anything with you, if they want they will give you a job so then it would be good that you called back, if they don't want still it doesn't mean anything bad about you, there are simply too many unemployed people out there looking for a job, so employers can choose.
I support you to call back and be confident - you can't lose, only get at least one more experience.
Opinion of such random people is not valuable enough to affect you emotionally.
Good luck and be brave!

As someone who does TONS of interviews for laborers: relax.

What I am usually looking for:
Can the person follow instructions and engage in clear communication?
Is the person groomed and dressed appropriately?
Does the person have the basic skills to fulfill the requirements of the job?
Will the person fit in the already established community of workers OR will that person help to change the culture in a positive way?

So make the call, bathe, fix your hair, wear clean, pressed clothes. Go to the interview early, take a breath before answering if you're nervous and remember that this is about finding a good fit for you and the company. It really is NOT personal. Also: as someone who's done tons of these, I also get nervous conducting interviews. Mainly I am nervous for the person being interviewed.

I honestly don't care if my workers are overweight. I doubt they will either.

Ok I got good news and bad news: Good News - I got up the courage to make the call and I have an interview tomorrow at 3pm. Bad News - I am beginning to have panic attacks that I'm gagging. I have been schedule to see a Psychologist soon referred to by my doctor. She believes I suffer from Disassociation since all physical test came back negative. So well see tomorrow folks, God I am so scared.

From my experience weight, if not excessively obese, is not a reason for employers not to choose an employee. It is discrimination for an employer to choose an employee based on weight.

But I do remember, when I used to be overweight, that it is a tough mental obstacle to overcome, because no one wants to be overweight and it is a struggle to find the way to the correct weight.

Jobs are scarce in our economy, and money will not buy happiness, however financial freedom, even if not at a 100 percent, will enable you to live your life in a way that you want to. Because money enables you to keep your freedom so you are not forced to ask for assistance.
