Welcome aboard, Joseph. Looking forward to your observations. I was SO too before the 160th and JSOC were born. But you turn'em upside down, they all look alike.

Hey,
had a couple down days. Anyway, yeah that's cool. Wow, before 160 and JSOC? You are dating yourself, lol. Fun place to work though. You volunteer for fun and you get it. Then get out and go WTF just happened........lol

Lol, somebody swam through that shit pond I heard and ended up in the hospital in 09'. Prob just a rumor but hilarious to think about.
Haha, that's funny. If somebody swam the old pond at KAF, I think they would survive after a hot bath and some meds. Somebody told me the pond is going away. lol funny shit man.

Joseph.

Have you studied, or been exposed to Cognitive Process Therapy? If not, it's a process that helps you find better ways to look at a problem or situation. It's helped me a great deal in handling my depression.

The training that made you an effective soldier can cause huge problems in civilian life because many warrior techniques don't work in the world you live in now. Looking through warrior's eyes will keep you from seeing what those around you see, and will keep you from working your way back into a world that can be very foreign to a veteran.

You will always be a warrior. That never changes. But, you can learn to view things in ways that will help you through the depression that we all feel in a world where we no longer fit.

Hi SD,
I had a few down days. Anyway, I have studied CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), and among non-combat related exposure, the success rate is high. However, nobody is committing to solid numbers for combat related exposure yet.

I personally did not do it. I wasn't ready. Then 6 years later, I am thinking I missed the CBT boat for myself. Could have saved me a few very difficult years. You can do video, audio or both about the trauma, even writing.

I personally keep a journal for the first time in my life. Sounds girly, but I rate each day on a scale of 1-8. I also log sleep times, appetite, and meds, because I forget sometimes. Here is the good part. Google Sheets or Excel has a template for a line graph like you see on the news about something. Anyway, you just plug in your mood of the day 1-8 and the bell curve goes up, level, or down.

Was working on and off (OTW) at Role 3 MMU during that period, didn't come across this said incident. I don't think anyone could ever survive this poop pond, highly highly toxic lol who would've known?
