New Here
Hi, I'm a thirty one year old female. I am diagnosed with Complex PTSD. I am fortunate to see a brilliant counsellor at a Rape Crisis Centre. I was discharged from the Mental Health Team in August 2011, since my Consultant Psychiatrist didn't know what to do with me (her words).

I am very isolated....which hasn't exactly been a choice, it just happened. Most weeks the only person I`ll speak to is my counsellor.

I lose time a lot, and when I do, I often self injure. It`s been pretty bad, but thankfully no severe injuries for almost a year, now.

I hope to get to know other people, here, this forum looks a good place to be.

Elle - hi!

Welcome to the forum from my service dog and me, as well. I hope you find the support you are looking for here. For me the community here has taught me so much over the years I have been a member.

I also have a complex trauma diagnosis. There are many of us here. Also feel free to check out the sister site to the PTSD forum: [DLMURL]http://www.mysexabuse.com[/DLMURL]

While I do lose time regularly, I have been lucky to not use/need self-injury. Due to physical disabilities, more than one medical professional has suspected that my falling may be more deliberate than often assumed. This can be quite a dangerous statement to make in my medical records when I already have diagnoses which explain my falls. I had scarlet fever as a child which destroyed the hair cells in my cochlea (the hearing part of the inner ear) and the vestibular system (the part of the inner ear responsible for balance). Just with certain professionals' opinions it has been difficult. I honestly have no idea what you must have been through in the medical setting. I am very happy for you that you have not had any serious injuries for a year.

I'm looking forward to reading more from you...

Take care!

Hi, Deaf Global Nomad (love your username!).

The medical stuff has been pretty hard. I made a decision last year, never to be back in A+E, after my last experience there. I deal with whatever injuries I get, don`t like it, but so far, must`ve been doing OK at it.

Anyway, just want to say thank you for the welcome.

Elle
