I've encountered useless books and some really useful ones. If you're academically minded at all, the "Traumatic Stress" collected edited by the aforementioned Bessel van der Kolk was the first book I read that actually had something to offer. I think it was printed in '97 or 98 and I haven't seen it listed in the "books" list on this forum.
