Hoarding And CPTSD

Hi, I'm back
Ugh, bad backs are the worst. I usually take ibuprofen for mine, ask your doctor first.
I thoughr you would get a kick out of this...One thing my mom used to do, which was hysterical, was she would put things in paper bags. "Oh no! Aunt So and So is coming over! Get a paper bag and put everything in it!" We would get a bunch of paper bags and put everything from the coffee table, the dining table, the end tables, kitchen table, bathroom, counters, bookcases, floor, chairs, etc, you name it. Then she would put all the paper bags in a bedroom. Aunt So and So would come and visit. Then the next day my mom would sit and go through the bags. It was a "project". She was a 1950's housewife. I told you, weird, but fun, cool ideas! I'm so glad your brother is full of ideas too :)
I think you mentioned paying someone to come and clean? If it's a maid service, call today and schedule them to come 2-3 days before the inspection. You're paying them, they work for you, remember that. Make a priority list for them of what you want them to do. Prioritize this list, it's very important. Bathroom, kitchen, laundry, dishes, dusting, vacuuming, then anything else you want. Let them sweat that stuff, you do your projects. If they need to bring a vacuum or other supplies be sure to tell them this when you schedule your appointment. I may cost just a few dollars more. Like $5-10 more per hour more. A day or two before they come, do the paper bag thing so they can do the deep cleaning. You don't have to clean, scrub, dust, etc. before they come. That's what they are there for. Just concentrate on your projects. You are in charge. I absolutely love your cross as your protection barrier. Wonderful idea. And glad your kitty has a place too.

Also, remember in theatre, everything is an illusion. The illusion of a bank, the illusion of a bookstore, the illusion of a house. You want to create the illusion of an organized home for the inspection. And remember this is not a "flat", this is your home. You don't have to do everything. And despite what any paper may say, you are allowing them the honor of entering your home so they can complete their job. They should thank you.
And if you notice their eyes glancing at your paper bags, or whatever project you have, just wave your hand in the air and say, "oh, that's just one of my projects I'm working on. So, this is interesting work, how did you get into it? What do you think of the weather? So basketball season is starting, do you like basketball? Are you a cat person or a dog person?" In other words, change the subject and throw them off the scent. And smile and be confident. Even if you don't feel confident, give the illusion that you are! And then collapse on the couch when they leave. :) You can do this! Woo-hoo!!

Mumo thank you.
Brilliant ideas!
I do remember when I had a boyfriend in the past that when he was coming over I would just pick up the whole table
cloth with all the junk on it and just shove it in a box!
Think your mum has the right idea!
Great stress relief thinking I can pay someone to do hoovering coz it kills me.

I'm in shock at the moment.
I just took my cat to the vets to get her medication for hyperthyroidism
It's a transdermal gel you put in her ears. BUBBA is 13 years old. shy timid cat
Next thing they are doing Xray on her and I told she has heart disease.
She can't breathe and they have to shave her and put the injection in her to remove fluid.
The fluid is pink/cream 200ml and they will test it for infection.
she will have to go to London to recover.
Last I saw of her was with an oxygen mask, both sides saved and bandage on her leg.
I kissed her head and said to her "be a brave girl."

I said to the vet if she's gonna die please let her die at home with me.
They said heart disease can strike at any time.
My brother also has heart disease
I've come home with my cat, my baby.

I'm in shock.
Will have to be STRONG.
If she's in the hospital for the weekend then I must focus and distract myself, or I will crumble.
I will hoover , scrub, clean windows inside and out and get this place cleared whilst she away.
I have to survive without her till Monday?
I'm lost without her.

I've come home WITHOUT my cat.
she's in hospital.
I've just started to disassociate.
My eyes start blinking and nothing goes in.
I don't have any valium.
I've gotta fight through this.

How can I focus?

I'm so sorry to hear of your baby girl @Sanctuary
The most important thing is to take care of yourself.
Ok, it sounds like your brother might be helping you already, if not can he?
Can you get a storage unit temporarily to put the stuff in?
You are doing this for both you and your baby kitty. Focus on that, this is for her little home with you.
Take care of yourself and be gentle with yourself. This is a big, stressful time for you. One step at a time.

Got Bubba cat back this eve.
I was handed a piece of paper to say she has a suspected tumor.
I'm numb and in shock again.

she has hidden her self under the bed after having fluid drained from her lungs

Someone on freecycle asked for a hairdryer. I originally said I have a spare one
Then had to email her to say my cat is unwell and it may be a while until I can get on the loft.
Once Bubba was home, I got in the loft.
Gave away to this lady a hair dryer, pink stereo, fashion DVDs present from my sister. Fashion book about dressed and a sequin dress never worn.
I thought this is just STUFF, it's not my cat, or my friends or family, its just stuff!

My heart is breaking over my cat.
How do I deal with this overload of stress?

I think it's the same as all the other symptom including addiction (so called) which everything sorta is. Like moving away from pain and towards pleasure. I'm always weaning myself off some bad behaviour. Food clutter drugs sex. Take your pick. : )
I chuckled at this--I can SOOO relate..

@Sanctuary I'm so sorry about your cat. I hope for the best. That's a lot of stress. so sorry

Oh my goodness, yes, this is an extremely stressful time for you, and it sounds like a stressful time for your little Bubba too.
You get through it together. One step at a time. You get over one hurdle together, then the next. You are there for each other. This is for your home, both of yours. The inspection will be over soon, then the stress will lessen and you can concentrate on Bubba's healing. One moment at a time, just take it one moment at a time.

I'm so worried. Can't stop crying over my cat may be dying.
I feel so ill. Bubba has got to go back to vets 5 days time.
I think I need to get to my GP to get some valium as I'm finding it hard to cope.
I'm better when people are straight are with me.

As for the inspection, that's just the start. Then they want to fit a new boiler and a new roof just so the housing association
can get money off the government. It makes me sick. They have been voted the worst housing association as they only care about money and not the welfare of their tenants. Appalling stories I have heard. You're Just a number on a list.
I just want them to leave me alone so my cat and I have less stress.
This is making me physically ill, my gut hurts, stomach pain, headaches.

Am I going to have to make the decision to put my cat to sleep?

I'm crying again. I just want the world to stop. I think I'm losing the plot.
How to focus and get things done, moving, when I just feel like I want to curl up and die too.
My eyes are so sore, been using teabags on them to bring down the swelling.
I'm not coping very well.

I'm so sorry you are going through this @Sanctuary , oh my goodness. I think it's a good idea to call your GP and get the valium. Can you talk to your doctor or a therapist about everything going on right now? Try to remember one step at a time. You can only do what you can do. Do you know anyone with a truck or van that can help you bring things to a storage temporarily for the inspection time?

Oh @Sanctuary ...I can't begin to tell you how my heart is aching for you. I am so, so sorry your little sweet one had to leave you right now. Please hang onto the hope that she is frolicking right now and will one day greet you with purring kisses. But she is still with you right now. She is just invisible, but she's right with you.
