Other House Full Of People, No Choice In The Matter, Scared.

I currently live in a house owned by my family; who has a toxic dynamic, and they often emotionally and verbally abuse me. I'm stuck here right now due to my illness, and financial situation. There is going to be a party here this weekend, and I'm scared, because I have no choice in the matter. One of the people having the party here has previously assaulted me in the past.

I suppose I could just ask the boyfriend to go out with me for a car ride if it gets too crazy here. Unfortunately, the house also triggers me, because a lot of my recent trauma happened here. I have been taking my anxiolytic, and hoping for the best. I do belly breathing, and visualizations.

Please send me positive thoughts. I need your help. I thank you so much.

:hug::hug: if you accept.

Perhaps choose to spend the day somewhere else:

*an outing at the park
*a little stay over with the BF
*a library visit and read a romantic novel (?) or book of choice...right there until closing
*a movie a-thon at night in some nice theater
*out of town visit to a relative or friend
*a camping trip for one day in a state park
* a mall day of window shopping
* search the papers for an activity in the evening for your area
* an opened church is a nice place to spend the evening in reflection (although you would need to check ahead to see if they are opened at night)
-or-
*buy a inside bolt or latch lock and install it on your bedroom door
*buy a set of soundproof head phones and read on kindle
*rent a movie from Amazon on-line and wear earphones
*prepare all food for hunkering down and perhaps a compilation of soothing tunes
*notify your therapist (if you have one) and ask if s/he can text you or e-mail you if you need him or her to walk you through any panic attacks
*consider asking if your BF can watch movies in your room during the party

....just consider picking an alternate that offers to yourself...that you currently are not a victim. You are empowered with options.

Peaceful thoughts sent your way. Stay strong.

Great advice from Recovery4Me. Family get together a are a huge trigger for me. I ended up in an ER...

I have spent my afternoon watching positive and healing videos on YouTube, and later on, or tomorrow, if they get on my nerves, I will go out of the house. My Clonazepam dose makes it possible for me to drive my car without fear, and I am on a low dose, I might as well go with it.
