What you describe could be symptoms of PTSD. But it is people who have PTSD.
Even when a person is feeling numb to feeling, if they understand it is PTSD, then the intellect is capable of taking over and going through the motions (smiling in the right places, saying the right words). His attitude that it's ok for him to be rude because he has PTSD, is the attitude of him as a person - not as a PTSD sufferer.
However, sometimes people who feel that they don't deserve the good things in life, will ruin them for themselves by being assholes and making themselves unlovable. But you don't have to live like that, and it can be more beneficial to both of you, for you to make it clear that if he wants to lose you, he can, by leaving (asking him to leave). If you do still love him, you can leave the door open for him to come back IF he shows improvement.
