I Pulled The Trigger And Got Me A Cat...

For once I finally stood up for myself. I said, "wife - I want a kitten. I need something beautiful in my life and want to watch it grow with me and be a part of me. I will not back down from this. I will not end up with a seven year old tabby named buddy or whatever. I won't have it."


So...yeah...if you are married you already see where this is going....

I am now the proud owner of a seven year old tabby named Buddy. I win so many times it is getting hard to count. :)

I would show you his picture but it seems he only likes to come out at night and lurk in the shadows. H wants you to pet him but then runs away when you reach your hand out toward him. He is so damn much like me. :)

I have a cat that I am going to rename him. He is...dah dah dah!! Batman! *drops smoke bomb*

I think you just convinced me to get a cat again. I love his little personality! It will be so fun to see him relax and get used to his new place. I wonder if he's playing a game, or if he's excited and happy to be there but maybe a little bit scared too. I'm so glad you wrote about this. I needed to hear it tonight.

Cats! My fave subject. Congrats on your new overlord. He will have you beautifully trained in no time. My kitty had me under his paw in the first week. He's now four years old and frequently the only thing that keeps me tethered to this earth. (The real secret: mostly they're just love starved, the shyer they are the more loving they get once they trust.)

That sounds so familiar. I went into the rescue looking for a puppy and walked out with a 3 year German Shepard, Wolf mix. Turns out she was abused too. You couldn't touch her tail or any part of the back of her. Her ears were a definite no as well. I tell them when I take her in for her check ups or dental cleaning or whatever not to touch her backside or ears and they insist on trying to get a temperature. :barefoot: It's so darn fun to watch now (it was worrisome at first). She has changed that part of her for us and we can rub her tail, her hind legs and her ears. She is the best, most loyal dog in the world. I was sent a picture when I was at work yesterday of her eating. The caption read, "call Guinness's Book of World Records, she is eating and you're not here". She is 6 now and well, just look at the avatar picture I have.

Your cat will adjust in no time and he will be wonderful for you as well. I'm glad you were able to add Buddy to your life!!!!

Pets rock! When we first brought home our kitten she took a while to warm up, but she had spent 3 of the 4 months of her life in a tiny cage. We have now had her for 6 weeks and she slept in the crook of my arm for an hour while I was on the computer the other day. It was so calming for me and her too, I guess. :joyful:

Having a mature cat may be a benefit in that he will be calmer from the start. Enjoy getting to know him and becoming best friends!

As the maid for 3 beautiful adult cat, I can say, they are the anchor, which keep me, grounded during my bouts of severe anxiety and depression. The youngest one, Star, I took in, as an abused kitten, whom I have been working for the past 2 years. For small stretches of time, I can pick her without her struggling to get free. It's these moments, I treasure, the most. Good luck JD with Batman.
