This may or may not be of any help to you. I have a nephew that was raped as a child, by a sadistic friend of his older brothers. Pretty much the entire family thinks he now has PTSD, but he's never been diagnosed. He's now in his late 30's and a detective on a police force. His main priorities and what he studies is rape. He handles all of the rape cases that comes through his department. We all believe that this is his way of dealing with what he's been through.

Helping these children may be your way also. But you will need to figure this out for yourself.

Well, there are other options. You can "get your feet wet" with respite care, or short term emergency placement.

I have had PTSD my entire adult life. I have successfully raised my own two biological children as well as a foster and adoptive parent. In fact , the foster daughter I adopted as a teenager has moved back in with me with her daughter. This was because she felt us was the best way to "give her the stability she didn't have growing up."

The foster kids I took in were considered "hard" cases. I think they flourished with me because of my trauma experiences. I think because I have PTSD, but have it "controlled" (as much as that's even possible ) it gives them hope they can be successful despite yheir past too.

I think that the answer lies in you and how you able you feel. No parent on the face of the Earth is perfect . PTSD in and of itself will not make you a bad parent. Good luck on your search for an answer. Feel free to message me with any questions .

Thank you! I appreciate it

I sincerely wish you the best of luck. You sound like you have a lot of live to give!
Until you're ready for the bug leap , there is also mentoring and bug brother's bug sisters too!

Working with kids is rewarding, satisfying, cathartic work...usually.
