I just thought I would post this link as I have IBS, which I know is linked to my stress and anxiety but I did not realise that B12 deficiency can result due to malabsorption caused by inflammatory gut condition like IBS.

I have just been diagnosed with B12 deficiency after symptoms of pure exhaustion, which my GP told me could all just be psychological, but she did do a blood test that included one for B12 levels this time. I came back with low B12 levels and was told to take a high B12 supplement 1000 ugm and come back in month.

I have looked up B12 deficiency and my exhaustion can be explained because B12 is crucial for red blood cell formation but it also plays a major part in myelin sheath creation and DNA production. Research has linked low levels of B12 with Alzheimer’s, dementia, cognitive decline and memory loss and other neurological disorders.

B12 deficiency is not commonly measured for so I just wanted to let people know that if you have IBS or are suffering from over tiredness and exhaustion, then B12 deficiency could be a cause and it could lead to some pretty serious diseases if not treated.
