Found out 91 y-o Grandad went into hospital 2 days ago and burned rubber getting in to see him. Typical - they've got him on a standard diet. Why not? Old dude comes in with an acute lower back injury, it might not come up in conversation that he has a constricted throat and needs a soft diet. Can't eat it if it's not pulp - who knew!?
Only, they should friggin know. Emaciated 91 year old hasn't eaten in 2 days. You'd think that'd register in a hospital (a private hospital to boot). Nup.
Now, I can appreciate that Nurse Whendoesmyshiftend doesn't know what Crest syndrome is. And with a lower back injury, sven if she did no, why should she care?
Maybe the complete absence of any food intake is "Meh!". But surely, SURELY, a guy who's had a pacemaker sticking out of his chest, who has BLUE hands, that are swollen up like footballs - at some point, surely plain old curiosity would get the better of you, and you'd take 5 seconds to say,
"Hey Mr Smith with the pacemaker, spinal disc bulge and bilateral neuropathy, what's up with them there blue hands of yours?"
Oh, blue hands you say? B L U E. Blue hands. Fking blue hands! What did you get your nursing degree from a cereal packet or something? Ask him about his goddamn BLUE HANDS!
"Well you very effective and not the least bit a complete indictment on our healthcare system nurse, that would be my Crest Syndrome...And on account of the fact that I was only just discharged from this marvellously effective hospital of yours 2 weeks ago, I believe that you'll find the correct way to spell 'Crest' is written in my file which you've no doubt taken pause to at least file on the correct shelf."
2 friggin days without food he can eat... In a hospital. A friggin hospital! And no one's even curious about his lack of appetite or bkue friggin hands? That's not normal. It's not like he's got a pair of latex gloves on darlin'! Fking figure it out! And stop by to get your damn eyes checked on your next meal break.
