Inside Out, The Movie; Wow, What Did You Think?

I look at those above like primary colors. The primary colors which are the only ones not mixed; blue, red & yellow. All of the remaining colors are a mix of those colors (excluding black & white as they arent colors rather white absent of all colors and black a combination of all; though when you mix all colors you get brown but whatever). I think those may be "primary emotions" and the remainder is a mix of those adding intensity.

Ekman (who is the author of the 'basic emotions' theory used in the movie) agrees with you, and lists combinations in his work. The one that comes first to mind is 'contempt' (which is of particular importance when interviewing someone) that is anger + disgust.

@scout86 , I agree, I agree that Panksepp has described important systems withing the mental machine, but I'm not sure that those systems are best called 'emotions'. I think that Ekman is better when it comes to talking about 'feelings that we express' - I think Panksepp is very important, but I wouldn't use the word 'emotions' to group those things together. I think I like 'systems'.

I managed to get through the language selection and after a bit of messing with options finally got to it :p

Doesn't seem like much

@Junebug, I do. I think it sort of coats all of my other emotions so i cant get to them until i figure out how to shed some of that anger.

Its very frustrating cuz I know the other emotions are there but i cant seem to access anything else.

Does that make sense?

I've heard anger described as the emotion whose job is to keep people from running over the top of us. If you have a lot of reasons to expect that of people, "Anger" might be an obvious go to emotion. You might have to get past feeling like you need to protect yourself before it's safe to feel anything else.

I dont know @Junebug that its less painful, it just is. I dont have any control over it, rage just coats all of my other emotions (like the chocolate coating on candy) and it causes the inabilty to access anything else as rage always comes first.

I did shed it at one point and was feeling other things but its back there again with everything going on now.

You might have to get past feeling like you need to protect yourself before it's safe to feel anything else.

That, def! I always feel I need to defend myself, always. Even if theres nothing to defend against.
