Anyone else have problems with violent thoughts of an intrusive nature? I've been diagnosed with PTSD but haven't heard that this is a common problem. Its very disturbing and it would help to know that someone else struggles with this.
I do not have the violent thoughts now, but they were a BIG part of my experience earlier in the going. I think anger is an extremely natural response to fear, fear being the stuff PTSD is made of.
i have them, don't understand where they come from, but the extent terrifies me. they are so vile.i have two kinds with two extremes. i feel your fear. it's more than fear, it's terrifying to think there ias a part of you that thinks that way, you are not alone
Yep, sometimes I still have them, usually when I am not preapred for things like gonig to a city for business on short notice. When I get into larger centres if I a not mentally preapred they come, less when I am ready.
I have intrusive thoughts as well, but for me they can range from a simple flash of memory to a vivid, anxiety provoking thought directly related to my trauma. I fear having them especially in social situations but they are part of PTSD.
They are different from my anger outbursts - I'm not violent but some of the things that come to mind when I get angry or frustrated actually scare me. Doc tells me that anger and being easily frustrated is part of having PTSD - there is nothing abnormal about me. No worries.
I have intrusive thoughts- more "replaying" of details of traumas and the feelings associated with them, but they are not violent- unless you include the ones directed at yourself.
