(Personally, I'd go without the calming stuff, since you did hear him stop barking and there were no noise complaints. If you want to know how much noise he makes when you are gone, order up a cheap voice activated recorder or get a nanny cam and you can watch the video of what he does. Probably would be useful!)
I didnt think about a nanny cam. Damn, could of gotten that at work. I suppose i can record noise from the PC. I can record video on the web cam i got my step mom one christmas and it has a setting that it will come on with motion and take still pictures every so many seconds as well as video (I believe) for security. It can be set to record, i believe, as well, so can use that.
The only other auto record I have in the house is on my phone. Dont think my blueray has one but it turns itself off so the webcam & PC is my only hope there.
The people nextdoor i guess could tell me if he kept barking but their dog never shuts up & barks if you just walk by their door, so unsure if they would ever hear it. We only share one wall. The apartment upstairs is vacant.
I wouldnt get a complaint unless it was continous and many come in to complain. Their was a GORGOUS husky that lived 24/7 on the back porch on top of a foot of their own waste and it took them forever to do anything. I felt so bad and went in there once to take out a dead racoon and i got in trouble for accessing someone else's porch. Seriously? They only didnt di anything as i threatened to call the health department as the stinch was horrid. It was the dog i cared about and even thought of stealing him but he was fear agressive and i dont think he would had been ok inside of my house.
But they have been good at delivering complaints to me but refuses to do anything about mine so i dont know, maybe.
This:
Is, I think, the biggest thing I have to keep telling myself. He has a clean soft place to lay down inside of a cool house and has clean cool water. The good thing about this time with their dog gone, he is learning to eat straight dry food. The shelter used to mix soup into his food (never got that) and my parent's dog is always eating his food and so i could never keep it down until now so im presenting only dry food knowing he wont strave himself and he is now finally eating it.
I learned today why they gave me a two bowl holder metal thing when i got him. Without it he is endlessly trying to tip the bowl over.
he's a pittie, so he's smart and loyal. He wants to do what you want him to do.
Yes he is! I trained him most of what he knows in a day. He came to me only knowing how to sit and he now knows 10 commands if im counting right. He's well trained though I think he has outside ADD, too much going on to listen well but I constantly work with his commands as they also slip a bit when not enforced by my parents too and im not cool with that.
He is a typical pit; smart, loyal, and loving.
Im going to try to keep him in the crate tomorrow, I think thats more for me then him as i will be there so a much different experience for him so unsure if im trying to establish crate when i leave and out when i come home if its a good idea to have him in there when im home.
Im unsure with that one.
