Kicked In The Head

I watched the movie "Reign over me" about a week ago. I had never seen it and didn't know what it was about. I felt like somebody kicked me in the head. I was exhausted afterward. I saw myself in some of the movie. It was a good movie but If I had known what it was about I probably would not have watched it.

I won't go to see movies at the the theater since I can't turn it off if I want to.

Did anybody else have that reaction?

Yes.

I've never seen that particular movie either, didn't know what it's about, so I just looked it up. The story line isn't much like my actual life, so it probably wouldn't affect me exactly like it did you, but I can sure see how it might affect a person.

I'm with you on the being able to "turn it off" idea! I kind of like to know I have the option of "Ok. That would be about enough of THAT." and walk away when stuff gets a little too close to home.

I couldn't tell from the article I read, does it have some kind of happy ending? (I'm sort of a sucker for a happy ending.)

I saw that movie with no idea what it was about. It hit me really hard, too. For me, however, it was a wake up call- I had been avoiding looking at any of my issues and the movie showed me that it is ultimately far better to work through the hard stuff than to keep running from it.

But I am definitely grateful to be able to pause or stop movies when I need a break!

I have seen it. Thought it is tough to have an old acquaintance perhaps see me the way I am now... which isn't as bad as the role Sandler played in the movie... but I found it thought provoking.

Bill, if you don't want to view the content of a theater movie, you can get up and leave but perhaps checking reviews and trailers and stuff would help you better discriminate on movie content?
