Knee Replacement Surgery

NH,
I hope your doctor is advising you well. It worries me that he would let you quit PT. Somethings seems awry and I hope that you are getting all the best advice from your doctors and their team.

I am concerned for you and pray that something gives soon. Succumbing to the pain can't be an option otherwise your healing process doesn't happen effectively. I can tell you that most of my post surgical pain was soft tissue. I took Celebrex to help ease some of that and then did quite a bit of deep tissue massage. My IT band on the outside of my leg would roll up and hurt like hell. I just hope you are able to question the doctors FULL plan enough to feel comfortable that he will get you where you need to be! The whole point of this surgery is to feel better, not worse... Surely he can see you aren't better!!! I hate to sound like I am questioning your doc, but I just want him to do his very best for you!

In any case, please don't give in to it and do some research of your own about soft tissue pain and its post surgical residual effects. Good luck, dear. Hang in there!!!

Thanks Rumors.

I'll be calling his office on Monday. I need to know this is going to improve drastically. I also need to ask many of the other questions you wrote above. I need the voice of reason. I will asl my Chiro to do more soft tissue work on Tuesday and will do my research before hand.

Maybe after more rest I will be able to think more clearly. I have put a note next to my bed to re read so I wont forget.

It's been another very physically and emotionally exhausting day.

NH I am just checking on you to make sure you are ok. Thinking of you and sending you healing energy. Big hugs.

I went to the Chiropractor today. He seemed a bit shocked that the doctor told me to stop PT. Afterwards I decided to call my PT to ask her opinion. I asked how she felt about my PT ending? She told me she would have thought I needed another 2-3 weeks of PT. I asked if I should fight for it? Her response was to see how it goes till next Wed and if I continue to progress on my own then I am fin, but if I stay stuck or go backwards to give her a call. She said she would put the call into the Dr.

I couldn't get a call back from my Dr. yesterday as he has gone out of town till next week. So I guess I am going to have to wait. I don't know if I should play the friend card and call him on his cell? I guess waiting a week won't kill me.

I have had to return to work against my best interest. I have been so worn out. I go to sleep as soon as I walk through the door. The sad thing is they just expect and I gave in. I work or try on my full array of medication. I am still on Oxy, Vicodin,Gapapentin, and a muscle relaxant. I am really working on not being too hard on myself. So I am trying to not care how much I accomplish. Its a huge accomplishment just to show up and make it through the day. My only concern is not to do too much. I don't want to hurt myself or have anymore set backs.

Wow! With so much medication I'm surprised you can function at all! After my surgery just the oxy put me on the couch in a puddle of giggling idiocy!

I think you should call the Doc or go for a second opinion to show him you mean business!

((((Big Hugs))))

I have been doing my best to not take the Oxy. I still need it at times. Actually almost everyday. As I said the fact that I get there and stay awake is an accomplishment all on it's own. I am just grateful that it is a long weekend. That I am not going to be anywhere near my family.

(((NH)))

I am in shock that your doctor is not recommending more PT and definitely ask him about it. If he doesn't think it is necessary, then don't settle. Talk to the physical therapist and ask her about other activities that will help you get stronger, heal, increase mobility, and reduce the pain. Two that come to my mind are water aerobics and yoga. But definitely check with a medical professional, and get their recommendations.

When you get a chance take a minute and watch this. It really inspired me after I broke my back.

It is on youtube titled "
Never, Ever Give Up. Arthur's Inspirational Transformation!

I couldn't get the link to work.

((((NH))). I was shocked that you are back working full days. You still need to rest a lot. I know I sound like a nagging Mum, but is there any way you could reduce your hours. I'm worried that you will try and keep going and then relapse.

I guess I'm scared for you as that is what I did.

Please take care.
