Mental Health Nurse Consultant- What's That?

I have an appointment with the Mental Health Nurse Consultant at the surgery I just joined, the first appt is a 1/2 hr long assessment. Does anyone know what they do in the Assessment & what a mental health nurse consultant does in general? I'm also scared because it's a man & considering what I got PTSD from I am not comfortable with this but that's who is based at the practice. I don't want to kick up a fuss when I've just joined the place, they're probably already thinking oh god we've gained another loony, that's not going to get us any extra funding!

Well, when I had my first appointment with the "councillor" at my medical practise, she just asked me some questions like getting to know you, sort of thing.

She referred me onto a therapist, as she didn't know anything at all about PTSD, just as well, as she kept saying "I know" when in fact she had no idea what PTSD is like.

So, don't worry about it, and remember, everything you say is in strict confidence. You might be referred to a therapist, don't worry about that, as at least they Can Help you, good luck.
