I tend to have songs that amp it. Dish it out and get rid of that fire. Same as with preferred exercise until I'm stable: something that's throwing myself right on that target, instead of pretending all is chill. Then is chill time.
When I first saw your reply I misread your statement as Depends what you consider as hyper vigilance, which struck me as really odd for a PTSDer so thought it best to define it.

Lol I'm really gonna need to pay for membership soon, this no delete function is destroying me
- This is a particular piece of Meditation music, We use this for relaxation within the UK Military "Warrior Programme" it is extremely soothing and if it can sooth the Inner beasts of Servicemen and Women it sure can sooth any beast.
I have a particularly Violent Alter in me and I use this particular Karllson track to go off to sleep, keeping my nasty side under control.
I find Gaelic psalms and Russian orthodox monastic chant soothing. Also Brian Eno's music - especially 'Apollo: Atmosphere's and Soundtracks'. I use this to help me sleep.
I have no particular genre or cd but Birdy, Lorde, Corribe Bailey Rae, Lianne La Havas, Eva Cassidy.... Like I said it's not a genre but it centres me it's not loud when played. It's on in the hallway on low I sit and centre myself and become mindful. This is my just my view good luck
I have a continual mix on my iPod that helps me and the songs vary. Sometimes I am really into songs like "Fight Song" by Rachel Platten. Other times I need something more like "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan. Other times, I do need something more strong, too help get emotions out. Usually for settling hypervigilance though, I am more for soothing or empowering music.
So much music helps me, and it's all over the map. But the topic title makes me think of Ray Lynch. Just about any of his stuff, from the Tibetan bells and near minimalism of Sky of Mind to the post-New Age last stuff.
