CombatPTSD
New Here
Hey everyone,
I recently joined and I wanted to get my story out there. I understand there is a specific PTSD site for combat veterans but I want to be involved with this forum because of the differences and diversity of PTSD. Everyone is different and I value that.
My story comes from the Iraq war. I was 19 years old when I went to war and I am a Medic for our wonderful Marines. Naive as any young one would be, I didn't expect to be a person having PTSD.
I went through the denial stage for awhile because I was the type of person to be strong and not weak... basically stubborn. In my head, I was the same person but to everyone else I was changed. It is normal for anyone to experience war to think that but now that I am wiser and older, my goals are to get help when needed and help whoever I can help.
I am trying to write a book about my experiences and I love to get involved with different groups. Today I also lowered my dosage of medication, feeling ready to move on and do what I have to do.
Seek it and it will become yours.
I hope this opens up a lot of discussion and a lot of friends to share and help each other with.
