Was on tripleptal and it wasn't doing anything but, making me tired. I am on neurontin for head pain, anxiety and ptsd. Can't take ssri's. Also lorazepam as needed. Propranolol as needed and remeron at bedtime. Blah blah blah... Which one of these f*cking medications is gonna work? Preaching to the choir but, I'm sick of this.

I have been taking neurontin for about 6 years since I was in a car accident and sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). I take 900 mg a day at bed time. I was down to 600 mg for a while, but found I needed the 900 mg. there also was a time when I tried to not take this medication under the supervision of my doctor, but it did not work out. The anxiety and depression returned, so I began taking it again.

I dislike needing to take any medications and was once taking several directly following the accident and being in the hospital for 5 weeks. I found that neurontin really helps me and does not have side effects like some of the others did. I don't feel or know of any side effects.

Some of the other drugs I have been prescribed have been Wellbutrin and Abilify. The Wellbutrin was helpful, and it was difficult to stop taking it, but I don't feel the need for it now that I'm past the difficulty with anxiety and panic attacks that occurred for about after stopping it. The Abilify actually put me in the hospital. I developed numbness in my arms, sometimes tingling in my arms, and numbness with immobility of my hands. It was terrifyingly and it was my mom who researched online that these were possible symptoms. My doctors with a 3 day hospital stay did not figure it out. I stopped taking it and within a couple of days the issues subsided.

I am not a sufferer of PTSD, but am a supporter and I thought I'd share my personal experiences with these medications, however, I don't know it they would be any different for a sufferer. Everyone is different whether they have PTSD or not, so obviously there is no way of knowing if they will affect any two people the same.

I wish you luck in your pursuit of medications that work for you. I hope this helped some.

Neurontin plus Remeron sounds like it's reaaaaaally hard to stay awake. Remeron has a hangover during the day that's like... a weird fog. Not even an interesting fog. Like an annoying fog lol. I did take both for a while. Neurontin worked better when I took it with less other stuff because the meds they paired it with were very strong. It was hard to tell what was the good effect of the Neurontin and what was the bad effect from the other 3 I was taking. I fell into this hole before with treatment, and that was being over-medicated. You got meds with long shelf-lives so to speak next to the ups and downs of the ativan and propranolol, man I don't blame ya for not knowing up from down. However, I could be biased about Remeron. Or as I called it, Rageron. Slept like a rock, woke like a beast lmao

I take at most 300 (whatever it's measured by, sorry LOL) and it's fine - it helps me A LOT, but for me trauma started EARLY and lasted LONG so they say that actually changes brain formation and what not and since it's a med originally used for seizures it makes total sense to me. Above three or too many days on three (I take 200 typically) and I get severe verdigo like if you saw me, you'd swear I was drunk because I can't walk a straight line for trying. I don't feel I am "properly" medicated for what it's worth. I also take amitriptylene and citalapram and I have an emergency rx for lorazpan. I don't get the super bad, but I still get the bad.

I've not taken neurotin but my mother did. It seemed to help her nerve pain and was one of the few drugs that didn't cause her any side effects.

I took remeron. It made me crave sugar too much, which is a side effect. Had to give that one up. I think I crave it enough without it.

I took propranol for a heart condition, but no longer take it because it wasn't working for what I was taking it for.

I've been on neurontin since June.I was put on it for my chronic daily headaches. I started take 300mg, 3 times a day. At first it put me in a daze, but it was a fun daze and made it easier for me to talk to people. It helped with my anxiety A LOT. It wore off, so the dr prescribed 600 mg 3 times a day. Now I take 9 300mg pills a day, so 2700mg a day. It doesn't really help for my headaches anymore, but it does help me with my anxiety a little. If I DON'T take it though, my emotions go out of control.

I take Neurontin for neuropathy and it works. My ex-Sufferer takes the maximum amount for anxiety and it works. I take 300 mg twice a day, although at one time needed to take it 3 times a day. I also take Inderal for a heart condition. I've been on it approximately 35 years with no side effects.
