New Here
I live in the UK and was diagnosed with PTSD a couple of years ago although the symptoms go back 4 years. Actually it's C-PTSD, the result of prolonged trauma. I've received several types of treatment from talking therapy to CBT, private and NHS, and am currently doing EMDR. Instead of improving I seem to be getting worse and am beginning to think that I'm stuck with this for life.

Welcome batty, unfortunately I have to agree that SOMETIMES the condition can be permanent, although that doesn't mean you can't improve it, or find ways to persist or thrive in some areas. Hopefully yours won't be with effort and good treatment.

I don't believe that I'll ever be near 100%, but I try to remember the many people who suffer in many worse ways and don't quit? Bit of a gut check to read stories of quadruple amputees, severe burn survivors, ALS sufferers etc, stories galore.... and they get more done in a day than I do.....keeps me going. I feel like I dishoner their efforts by sulking too long.

Welcome to the forum.

Sometimes, EMDR is not recommended for complex trauma. Perhaps you and your team/professional should discuss the efficacy of EMDR techniques and other therapy options before sallying forth with that treatment.

I know that often, healing involves dealing with pain that was locked away. Maybe talk with your therapist about slowing down, or coping mechanisms for dealing with what therapy is bringing up? There are some threads with good advice on this topic, if you choose to look around.

Welcome to the forum - I hope it helps you as much as it has helped me.

Welcome! One thing that I feel that is not addresses enough is that it does get worse before it gets better. All the things that are buried are coming to the surface. We get flooded. We think we are doing something wrong or we start to feel hopeless.
We can't heal it If we can't feel it.

So, unfortunately for us, it is the process for healing.

I am very glad you are here. Not glad for the pain that brought you here. But you will get a lot of support and understanding here.

Agree with @Simply Simon that a reassesment of your treatment plan might be needed. One size does not fit all.

Please let us know how you are doin
