Not Able To Sleep

I have been up for almost 24 hours. I was tired a few hours ago so I laid down. I couldn't fall asleep so now I am up and wide awake I don't even have any hint of being tired. What will help me sleep?

I know I have a big stressor right now and that my be what is making it even harder to sleep. My grandmother died yesterday, well, now two days ago. But normally I get at least 3-5 hours of sleep a day and today/yesterday I cant fall asleep for the life of me.

I have tried Melatonin, and Ambien and neither are making me tired. Hot showers and boring T.V. infomercials are not even helping me.

I need sleep because I need to be at my best for this week ahead. I have to deal with burying my grandma as well as seeing the man who raped me repeatedly. I need strength.
 
So sorry... I am not sleeping yet either. My aunt died this week and have to attend the funeral today so I am just too restless. Having to see people and be around people that can trigger you is not easy.

I have been doing Emotional Freedom Technique which uses tapping. Just google it to look for videos. It seems to help but last night and tonight are terrible for trying to sleep. I have taken sleeping pills and am going to take some clonazapam if I don't get to sleep soon.

Having a family member die is horrible. Not to mention to have to see your abuser. If you have no other choice but to be around him take people with you that can cacoon you so you cannot see him. Sorry you are going through this and hope you manage some sleep.
 
My mother and sisters all stay close when he's around as he did this to my sister as well. But he is the power of attorney over my grandma's estate so if we want any of her things we have to play nice. It's just taking it's toll on me.

I am sorry about your aunt. I hope things go good for you today.
 
Hi Jlso. Im sorry for your loss and your sleeping problem. Thank you for replying my post and your words did help at least a bit. Silly me, i replied you on my own page regarding my problem. After reading yours felt mine disappeared. As for your sleeping problem, may i ask, do you have regular exercises? Regular exercises may help you in sleeping. Or do you have hormone disorder, taking evening primrose? Sorry if i am too nosy. If you dont feel like telling any of it, its alright.
 
Hi jlso. I am sorry you are having problems with sleep. It stinks cause if you do not get proper rest then everything is off. I have tried a new drug taken before bed called Prazosin 1 mg. It has allowed me to sleep and do it solid for 7-9 hours. It seems to help with the anxiety also!

I am sorry you still have to deal with him but I would maybe get some legal advice yourself only because he did this to you and your family so he may not try to play fair in the end anyway.

The funeral I went to went well today. It was a small service which was nice. Exhausted though from no sleep. I hope you managed to get some.
 
Something that really works for me is when everything is completely quiet, I lay down and find a focal point. I keep my hands on my abdomen and feel myself take deep and slow breaths. My mind tries to wander off, but that focal point, along with hearing and feeling myself breathe helps to keep me grounded.

It takes a while and some practice, but it really does help with relaxation and eventually sleep. Hope this helps :)
 
Exercise is a best activity that allows you to sleep comfortably without any symptoms. It also makes you to lead a healthy and happy life.
