Sufferer Not Sure Where To Start...

A trauma therapist is one who has been specially trained in the safest, most effective ways in approaching and treating those of us with traumatic histories.

Having been through many years with many different therapists, I can speak to the difference a trauma therapist can make. Highly recommended!!

Hi pink sunflower,

Welcome to the forum!!

It is really difficult to completely cut an abusive ex out of your life when you have children together. But with that being said, the children are now adults and you have a right to protect yourself from continuing abuse. Setting a boundary of not being around your ex is perfectly acceptable and letting you children know that you love them and want to be part of their lives, but you can only be around when your ex is not. Only you know what is best for you and make your choices based on that knowledge. Your children will have to make their own choices, but that doesn't mean you have to sacrifice your sanity for a relationship with them.

A trauma therapist can really help you learn to manage the PTSD. This site also has a lot of information and the support here is wonderful as you work on healing. There is also a sister site you may be interested in: MyDomesticViolence.com.
