I don't know all the history of your trauma but also want to say that there is a coping mechanism called minimizing. I am an expert. :-/ If part of ones brain says it was not so bad then we don't have to believe it was so bad and be overwelmed.
Also for some, like me, who have come from an invalidating environment where one is not allowed their own thoughts and feelings, self doubt reigns.
I am sure you were not saying that it is any way something one wants or using the word derserving in any other way but rather saying that you find yourself with it and yet doubt it and doubt how what you experienced got there. ?
It becomes a mash of apposing thoughts and feelings which are hard to describe if one has not.
