Opening up in therapy

I'm getting triggered by thinking about talking about my past with my new therapist. It's so scary to share the story with people after I was taught to fear other people knowing. Now, I have to share all these details again, with someone new, and think about trusting another person. Trust is such a big thing for me, I really don't trust. I never have. I trust little bits, but not fully, and that's really frightening.
 
Thing is about trauma therapy, you don’t actually have to fully trust the therapist for it to be helpful. You just have to be willing to try new things as an experiment. See if it helps or not.

Keep challenging the distorted thoughts from the past that you’ll be in harms way if you share. It’s safe now to tell. :hug:
