I think it's nonsense. It's about consent; a child can't consent. I really don't like organizations like NAMBLA. Further, pedophilia is not a sexual orientation. It is a psychiatric disorder and deviancy.

Where is the research? Where are the peer reviewed papers?

I find the title of thread thread inaccurate and offensive. It should read Paedophilia Rights Vs Heterosexual and Homosexual Rights.

Earlier this year two psychologists in Canada declared that pedophilia is a sexual orientation just like homosexuality or heterosexuality.

Thanks Ms Spock. I keep feeling really uncomfortable that we have a link to it here and that it is out there. It does need to be reported.

I can only guess that they have taken research about two 16 year olds having a consensual relationship and used that out of context. Or just lied entirely and pulled it out of the sky. What is so dangerous is that is so suedo factual when it is absolute dangerous cr**. :(

Well from my perspective the thread title reflects the actual content of the article, not what it really should be.

I'm sorry it upset you Ms Spock, however the article wasn't there to support but rather to get a perspective on whether or not the article was real (I didn't think anyone was that f*cked up) or if it was just a shit stirrer article.

The person who posted the article on my FB feed posted it up because she found it offensive and doesn't like letting cockroaches remain in the dark.

I hadn't thought of reporting it, however I will do so.

I think you are brave to post this here and ask questions. We can never prevent sexual abuse and exploitation of children if we don't shine a light on it and ask questions and communicate with other people. And we can only do this with lots of open conversations.

I did read the article and first sentence does say "no different than heterosexual or homosexuals." But on the other hand it is a slippery slope argument about how if you give gay people rights then society will fall apart etc. So I can see your point. Your kindness in explaining your position is appreciated.

Someone like my father would never frequent those types of places - they "grow" their own and get the friends of their offspring as well.

It takes courage to bring these things in to the light and open a dialogue.

I did report the site and the link from the site to the Australian Federal Police. It probably won't make a difference but that seemed the responsible thing to do.

My contributions to this thread may not have been helpful. Yet you have a generosity of spirit which I do appreciate.

Sadly Anonymous, I think it gets way worse than the article. The site I accidentally happened upon was one of those pro paedophilia organisations sites even though it took me about 5 minutes of reading to start realising it. I was sickened by what I read. A lot of the same things but more and more developed with pseudo research attached. I did report it but as Ms Spock says - who knows how successful that will be.

I know this topic must be a hard one to deal with, I admire your scope of view.

The article, for me, is twisted and poorly formed, and shows the rambling of alien chasing, pastafarian worshipping leftist wing nuts who insidiously slide under the mat and poison people slowly with their slippery words.

It infuriated me to no end, and after being in a safe environment and avoiding such shit for so long, I guess I'd gotten a tiny bit complacent.

I knew posting this might open a whole can of shit, but assholes like this survive when we say nothing.

I don't think anyone is judging you for posting the thread. Yes its hard to read but you didn't write it. I don't like it getting any airtime but again you are perfectly OK looking for answers in a place like this. The only thing I will correct and which has nothing to do with my political beliefs is that it was actually compiled by a right wing nut and not a left.

The good thing is that we are all more educated and it has been reported and that anyone reading here will realise that that is an option when they read something nasty.
